David A. Weiner (''pronounced Why-ner'') is an American filmmaker, magazine editor, and journalist. He wrote and directed the '' In Search of Darkness'' trilogy, which explores the decade of '80s horror cinema over the course of 14-plus hours: the long-form 2019 documentary film '' In Search of Darkness'', and its sequels '' In Search of Darkness: Part II'' (2020) and ''In Search of Darkness: Part III'' (2022). He also wrote and directed the five-hour 2022 documentary on '80s Sci-Fi cinema, ''In Search of Tomorrow''. Weiner was a contributor to ''The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision'' and '' LA Weekly'', and was a senior editor for '' Entertainment Tonight Online'' from 2001 to 2014. ''Samantha'' is a 1991 American film starring actress Martha Plimpton. Though at the time Plimpton was already a film actress for nearly ten years, this was the first vehicle in which she was the star. The film co-starred Dermot Mulroney, Hector Elizondo, Mary Kay Place and Ione Skye. It was a commercial failure, with mixed critical reviews. ''The Hidden II'' (styled as The Hidden 2) is a 1993 American direct-to-video science fiction crime horror film and the sequel to the 1987 film '' The Hidden''. Plot The alien criminal from the first movie is dead, but he left a few eggs which are hatching now. It is explained that on the alien's homeworld, evolution took two parallel paths: half of their race became violent criminals who live only for pleasure (the squid-like alien form briefly glimpsed in the first film), and the other half evolved beyond their base desires and even physical bodies, becoming creatures of pure energy.
