Davangere
Davanagere is a city in the centre of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is the seventh largest city in the state, and the administrative headquarters of eponymous Davangere district. Hitherto being a cotton hub and hence popularly known before as ''the Manchester of Karnataka'', the commercial ventures of the city is now dominated by education and agro-processing industries. Davanagere became a separate district in 1997, when it was separated from the erstwhile undivided district of Chitradurga for administration conveniences. Davanagere is known for rich culinary traditions which encompass the diversity of entire Karnataka's dishes due to its geographical position in the state as its centre. Notable among them is its aromatic benne dosey/butter Dosa that is associated with the name of the city. S A Ravindranath
S. A. Ravindranath (born 26 November 1946) is an Indian politician. Born in Shiramagondanahalli village of Davangere District, he represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Davangere North Constituency in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He is a senior Cabinet minister in the BJP government of Karnataka. Career A longtime member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he has been elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for four consecutive terms since 1994. He was elected as MLA from Mayakonda constituency for three consecutive terms and is currently representing the Davanagere North constituency. He won the May 2008 Karnataka state elections with the highest margin of over 53,000 votes against his nearest rival. Shamanur is a vllage adjacent to Davanagere city and a municipal ward under the municipal corporation of Davanagere city in Davanagere district in the state of Karnataka, India. The predominantly agrarian village, nestled amidst the lush green paddy fields and towering coconut and arecanut orchards, is characterized by its suburban outlook due to its proximity to Davangere city. Benne Dose
Davangere benne dose or Butter Dose is a type of dosa which traces its origin from the city of Davanagere in Karnataka, India. The term "''benne dose''" in English language simply corresponds to butter dose. It is prepared by addition of generous amount of butter while preparing the normal dosa, and accompanied by coconut chutney. Its batter is very different comprising a mixture of rice, dal, puffed rice, etc. and is prepared on wood fired pan. It is similar to masala dosa or set dosa but smaller in size, made out of rice batter and much more butter. It is served with liberal helpings of butter sprinkled on it. Davanagere City Corporation
Davanagere City Corporation, also known as Davanagere Mahanagara Palike, is the civic organization that manages the municipal affairs of the Davanagere city in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the 6th largest Urban Local Body in Karnataka. The town administration of Davanagere city was upgraded as a Municipality in c.1870, and later as a City Corporation on 6 January 2006. Davanagere district is an administrative district of Karnataka state in India. It is the centre of Karnataka. The city of Davanagere is the district headquarters. It had a population of 1,643,494 of which 32.31% was urban as of 2011. This district was separated from Chitradurga district in 1997 by the then Chief minister of Karnataka J. H. Smart Cities Mission
National Smart Cities Mission is an urban renewal and retrofitting program by the Government of India with the mission to develop smart cities across the country, making them citizen friendly and sustainable.
