Daughtry is an American rock band formed and fronted by namesake Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist on the fifth season of ''American Idol''. Their self-titled debut album was released in November 2006 and reached number one on the ''Billboard'' 200. The album went on to sell more than six million copies in the United States, and has been certified six times platinum by the RIAA. ''Daughtry'' was also named the best selling album of 2007 by ''Billboard'', becoming the fastest-selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history. The album produced four top 20 hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, including top five hits " It's Not Over" and " Home". The release is the fastest-selling debut rock album in Soundscan history and the band's bestselling record. Background and production "Breakdown", as it appears on ''Daughtry'', is actually a rewrite and combination of two songs previously recorded by Chris Daughtry's former hard rock/alternative metal band, Absent Element. The songs "Conviction" and "Break Down" appeared on the EP ''Uprooted''. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Daughtry, which he formed after placing fourth on the fifth season of ''American Idol''. Released by RCA Records, Daughtry's self-titled debut album became the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history, selling more than one million copies within five weeks of release. Matthea Elisabeth Larsen Daughtry is the Assistant Majority Leader of the Maine Senate. She is a Democrat representing Senate District 23, which serves Brunswick, Chebeague Island, Freeport, Harpswell, Pownal, and part of North Yarmouth. Daughtry served as a representative to the Maine House from District 49 from 2012-2020. Early life and education Daughtry was born in Brunswick and raised in a politically active family who involved her in volunteering and voter registration. She remembers an early interest in politics and describes campaigning on Maine Street in Brunswick to be President of the United States when she was six years old. Daughtry's godmother was a state representative when Daughtry was young, and Daughtry worked as a page for her godmother at the State House.
