Darius Juozas Mockus
Darius Mockus (born 29 March 1965 in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian entrepreneur owner and President of business group "MG Baltic" which is one of the largest groups in Lithuania, involved in production, sales, real estate, construction, IT and mass media industries. Mockus graduated Vilnius University (1988), Economics faculty. Since 2003 awards scholarships to the best students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. Mockus started his first entrepreneurship career in the late 80's running a cooperative " Litas". Later, throughout the 90's, his professional career accelerated further as with every year he gained experience of managing and administering new business units. Lithuanian Free Market Institute
The Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI) is a non-profit non-partisan organization (think tank) based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was established by six economists, including Petras Auštrevičius, in November 1990. Based on the ideas of the Austrian School, Austrian Economic School, its mission is to promote free market ideals with a focus on freedom, responsibility, and limited government intervention. The team of LFMI conducts research on the main economic and policy issues, develops reform packages, plans legislative proposals, advises and consults government institutions. LFMI also publishes economic literature, conducts surveys, holds conferences and lectures. The Chair of the Board is Elena Leontjeva, the co-founder of LFMI and President of LFMI from 1993 to 2001. Litas
The Lithuanian litas ( ISO currency code LTL, symbolized as Lt; plural ''litai'' (nominative) or ''litų'' (genitive) was the currency of Lithuania, until 1 January 2015, when it was replaced by the euro. It was divided into 100 centų (genitive case; singular ''centas'', nominative plural ''centai''). The litas was first introduced on 2 October 1922 after World War I, when Lithuania declared independence and was reintroduced on 25 June 1993, following a period of currency exchange from the rouble to the litas with the temporary talonas then in place. The name was modeled after the name of the country (similar to Latvia and its lats). From 1994 to 2002, the litas was pegged to the U.S. dollar at the rate of 4 to 1.
