Daniel Rowe (cricketer)
Daniel Thomas Rowe (born 22 March 1984 in Ogwr, Glamorgan) is a Welsh-born English cricketer, who represented Leicestershire CCC and Oxfordshire Minor Counties. Rowe was signed by Leicestershire in 2005 after impressing at Cardiff UCCE and graduating from the university in 2006. Rowe had previously played his cricket in Wales for Tondu CC and Glamorgan age groups before having a short spell at Somerset CCC during his time in University. Rowe is a right hand fast bowling allrounder known for his destructive ability to take games away from the opposition. He made his debut for Leicestershire CCC against the West Indies in July 2006 and had to wait until 2007 to make his First Class Debut against Essex, where he would make 85 runs with the bat and taking 2 wickets in the first innings. After an impressive debut and a number of strong seasons with Leicestershire’s 2nd Xl, opportunities became limited and like a number of young exciting players within the Leicester ... Ogwr
The Borough of Ogwr was one of six districts of Mid Glamorgan in Wales, which existed from 1974 to 1996. History It was formed under the Local Government Act 1972 from the urban districts of Bridgend, Maesteg, Ogmore and Garw and Porthcawl, along with Penybont Rural District from the administrative county of Glamorgan. The district took its name from the Welsh name of the main river through the district, the River Ogmore ( cy, Afon Ogwr). In 1996 most of Ogwr became part of Bridgend County Borough, with the Vale of Glamorgan taking the communities of Wick, St Brides Major and Ewenny. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire.
