Dan Jenkins
Daniel Thomas Jenkins (December 2, 1928 – March 7, 2019) was an American author and sportswriter who often wrote for '' Sports Illustrated''. He was also a high-standard amateur golfer who played college golf at Texas Christian University. Early life Jenkins was born in 1928 and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where he attended R. L. Paschal High School and Texas Christian University (TCU), where he played on the varsity golf team. Career Jenkins worked for many publications including the '' Fort Worth Press'', '' Dallas Times Herald'', ''Playboy'', and '' Sports Illustrated'', where among other things he covered the 1966, 1967, 1969, and 1971 versions of the college football Game of the Century. In 1985, he retired from ''Sports Illustrated'' and began writing books full-time, although he maintained a monthly column in '' Golf Digest'' magazine. World Golf Hall Of Fame
The World Golf Hall of Fame is located at World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida, in the United States, and it is unusual among sports halls of fame in that a single site honors both men and women. The Old Tom Morris Award is the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's most prestigious honor. It is presented each year to an individual who "through a continuing lifetime commitment to the game of golf has helped to mold the welfare of the game in a manner and style exemplified by Old Tom Morris." Morris (1821–1908) was greenskeeper and golf professional at the St Andrews Links Trust Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland; a four-time winner of The Open Championship (1861, 1862, 1864 and 1867); and ranked as one of the top links designers of the 19th century.
