Dalheim Ricciacum
Dalheim Ricciacum is the site of a Gallo-Roman vicus at Dalheim in south eastern Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Founded during the reign of the Emperor Augustus, the site was at a strategic point on the Via Agrippa, the main Roman road from the Mediterranean to the Rhine. The well-preserved theatre dating from the 2nd century AD could accommodate 3,500 people. Excavation The site was first excavated by the ''Société Archéologique'' around 1850 under Antoine Namur (1812–1828). Thousands of objects were discovered, registered and described in three reports. Contern ( ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of , the town of Contern, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of . The main towns are Contern, Moutfort, Oetrange and Medingen. Surrounding Contern are the small settlements of Faerschthaff, Bricherhaff, Brichermillen and Kreintgeshaff. Surrounding Moutfort is Milbech, Marxeknupp, Eitermillen and Kackerterhaff. Oetrange is surrounded only by Pleitrange and Medingen is on a hill in the south east of the commune alone. The commune also contains the industrial zones of Chaux de Contern, and Rosswenkel, as well as the activity zone of Weiergewan. Schengen () is a small wine-making village and commune in far south-eastern Luxembourg, on the western bank of the river Moselle. The commune border includes the tripoint where the borders of Germany, France, and Luxembourg meet. After the mergers with Burmerange and Wellenstein in 2011, the commune has a population of 4,223 with an area of . The largest settlement within the commune of Schengen is Remerschen after which the commune used to be named. The name of the commune was changed in 2006 to take advantage of the Schengen's name recognition after the signing of the Schengen Agreement there in 1985.
