Daewon Media ( ko, 대원미디어), formerly Daiwon C&A Holdings, is a South Korean company specializing in character and animation-related business. Founded in 1973, Daewon's subsidiaries include Daiwon C.I., Haksan Publishing, and Daewon Broadcasting, and it is involved in comic publishing, animation production, video gaming, character licensing, TV animation broadcasting, and animation importing/exporting. Its current Chair and Co-CEO is Wook Jung, and its President and Co-CEO is Hyeon-dong Ahn. History Daewon Media was founded in 1973 in South Korea as 'One Production', and in 1974 the name was changed to 'Daiwon Productions'. In 1977, Daiwon Animation Ltd was formed, and the company entered into an OEM agreement with Japan's Toei Animation to provide technical assistance work on its animation productions. Daewon C.I. (대원씨아이, 大元 C.I., ''Daewon Ssi Ai'', formerly Daiwon C.I.), short for Daewon Culture Industry, is a subsidiary of Daewon Media founded in 1991. This South Korean publisher releases domestic and imported comics, Newtype Korea Magazine, children's books, and light novels. With Haksan Culture Company and Seoul Cultural Publishers, Daewon C.I. accounts for more than 50% of comics publications in South Korea. Zen Master Daewon Moon Jae-hyeon (born January 23, 1936) is a Korean Zen master in South Korea. A disciple of Zen Master Jeongang, he received Dharma transmission from his teacher and thereby becoming the 78th patriarch in the Dharma Lineage of the Buddha in 1962.
