D4L (an acronym of Down For Life) was an American hip hop group formed in 2003, composed of Atlanta-based rappers Fabo, Mook-B, Stoney, and Shawty Lo. They are best known for their 2005 hit single " Laffy Taffy", which peaked at number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in January 2006. History Rapper Shawty Lo (born Carlos Walker) self-funded the group in its early days. He explained that the group's name stands for "Down for Life". D4L signed to the independent Dee Money Entertainment, which released the group's debut in conjunction with Asylum Records. The group debuted with "Betcha Can't Do It Like Me", which ''Billboard'' claimed to have popularized snap music. In January 2006, D4L's single " Laffy Taffy" reached the top of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Shawty Lo
Carlos Rico Walker (March 22, 1976 – September 21, 2016), better known as Shawty Lo, was an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. He initially came to prominence as a founding member of the Southern hip hop group D4L, and in 2000 founded D4L Records. The group reached national status in 2005 when their single " Laffy Taffy" topped the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and went on to be certified platinum thrice by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2007, Walker began pursuing a solo career with his debut single "Dey Know", which was included on his solo debut album '' Units in the City'', released in February 2008. "Laffy Taffy" is a 2005 song by Atlanta-based hip hop group D4L which reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in January 2006. The song's success on the charts was largely due to its enormous online sales. Crime Mob is an American hip hop group from Atlanta consisting of six members: M.I.G., Cyco Black, Princess, Lil' Jay, Diamond, and Killa C. The group is best known for their songs " Knuck If You Buck" and " Rock Yo Hips". After an arrest in 2003, member Killa C left the group. Crime Mob reunited and performed at Atlanta's Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash in 2012; Princess was the only absent member. The group had four members: Parlae (born Maurice Gleaton), Pimpin' (Jamal Willingham), Jizzal Man (Bernard Leverette), and Buddie (Gerald Tiller).
