Ignaz Döllinger (27 May 1770 – 14 January 1841) was a German medical doctor, anatomist and physiologist and one of the first professors to understand and treat medicine as a natural science. Biography Ignaz Döllinger was born in 1770 in Bamberg, where his father was a professor at the university and physician to the Prince-Bishop. He commenced his studies in his native town (where he took a doctorate in 1794), continuing them in Würzburg, Pavia and Vienna before returning to Bamberg. Soon after gaining his doctorate in 1794, he became professor for physiology and general pathology in Bamberg, but was called to a professorship of anatomy and physiology at University of Würzburg in 1803 as the successor to the former city doctor, physiologist and natural philosopher Johann Joseph Dömling (1771–1803). Genora Johnson Dollinger
Genora Johnson Dollinger (April20, 1913October11, 1995) was an American union organizer and labor activist, best known for helping to organize the Flint sit-down strike in December 1936. Dollinger organized both the Women's Auxiliary and the Women's Emergency Brigade in the strike, who helped United Auto Workers in labor fights across the country. Dollinger was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 1994. Life and work Genora Albro was born on April20, 1913. She grew up in Flint, Michigan, and went to Flint Central High School. She married Kermit Johnson, who then was a factory worker at General Motors, in 1930. Soon after having her first child, she contracted tuberculosis, and during her recovery in the hospital, she read up on worker's rights and socialism. Marc Dollinger (born 1964) is an American writer and a professor of Jewish studies at San Francisco State University. He is best known for his book ''Black Power, Jewish Politics''. Early life Dollinger was born in San Francisco in 1964, a 5th generation San Franciscan, and grew up in Sherman Oaks in Southern California. He married his wife Marci in 1994. Maria "Marie" Dollinger-Hendrix (28 October 1910 – 10 August 1994) was a German track and field athlete who competed in sprinting events and the 800 metres. She represented Germany at three consecutive Olympic Games: 1928, 1932 and 1936. She set an early Olympic record for the 800 m then the 100 m four years later. She was an 800 m finalist in 1928 and placed fourth in the 100 m at both the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. She had most success with the 4×100 metres relay team, setting a world record at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, although the team were disqualified in the final for a dropped baton. Philippe Dollinger (born 1 December 1904 in Strasbourg; died 14 September 1999 in Strasbourg) was a French historian, known particularly for his work on the history of the Hanse. Biography Philippe Dollinger attended the Gymnasium Fustel de Coulanges. Dollinger studied history at the University of Strasbourg. He was a pupil of Marc Bloch, Charles-Edmond Perrin and Lucien Febvre. In 1931 he pursued the Agrégation d'Histoire et géographie. From 1932 to 1945 he was a teacher at the Gymnasiums in Colmar, Reims, Strasbourg and Paris. From 1932 until 1934 he worked at the Institut francais in Berlin and in the Bavarian Archives.
