This list of pickleball organizations identifies key organizations around the world that promote or support the sport of pickleball. USA Pickleball USA Pickleball, established in 1984, was the first organization to provide oversight of the sport. It was the de facto world governing body for pickleball until the International Federation of Pickleball was established in 2010. Initially named the United States Amateur Pickleball Association (USAPA), it reorganized as the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) in 2005. The organization adopted the name USA Pickleball (USAP) in 2020. USAPA published the first official rule book in 1984, and published the ''USA Pickleball Association Official Tournament Rulebook'' in 2008. USAP's annually updated rulebook continues to be referenced as the official rule book for most recreational games and amateur tournaments around the world. Pickleball
Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport in which two or four players use a smooth-faced paddle to hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball over a net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits a rule infraction. Pickleball is played indoors and outdoors. It was invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game in the United States, on Bainbridge Island in Washington State. In 2021, pickleball was named the official state sport of Washington. Aspects of the sport resemble tennis and table tennis played on a doubles badminton court, but pickleball has specific scoring rules, paddles, balls and court lines. On each side of the net is a known as the '' non-volley zone'' (or ''kitchen''); a player standing there may not strike the ball before it has bounced. The hard plastic pickleball produces less bounce than a tennis ball. The limited bounce, non-volley zones, and underhanded stroke, with which all serves must be made, give the game a dynamic pace. Pickleball, a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, was invented in the United States in 1965, on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Since its introduction the sport has steadily increased in popularity. In 2022, pickleball was named the official state sport of Washington. For four years in a row, 2021 through 2024, the sport was named the fastest-growing sport in the United States by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. The 2024 report found that there were 19.8 million participants that year, a 311% growth since 2021. Dripping Springs is a city in Hays County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,650 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. Geography Dripping Springs is in northern Hays County on U.S. Route 290, which leads east to Austin and west to Johnson City. David Kass (born June 16, 1970) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography Born in 1970, Kass grew up in Bexley, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. A not-for-profit or non-for-profit organization (NFPO) is a Legal Entity, legal entity that does not distribute surplus funds to its members and is formed to fulfill specific objectives. While not-for-profit organizations and Nonprofit organization, non-profit organizations (NPO) are distinct legal entities, the terms are sometimes used interchangeably.
