"Dreamer" is a 1984 song by the Swedish heavy metal band Europe. It was the second single from the '' Wings of Tomorrow'' album. The single was only released in Japan. It bears a strong resemblance to the hit single " Carrie" that was released two years later. This song is referenced in the song "Time Has Come" off the band's next album '' The Final Countdown'' in the lyric, "Pray for the dreamer/He's still so sad." In 1993 the song was included on their greatest hits compilation '' 1982–1992''. Europe is a Swedish Rock music, rock band formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979, by lead vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson, and drummer Tony Reno. They obtained a major breakthrough in Sweden in 1982 by winning the televised competition Rock-SM (Swedish Rock Championships); it was the first time this competition was held, and Europe became a larger success than the competition itself. Since their formation, Europe has released eleven studio albums, three live albums, three compilations and twenty-four music videos. John Norum
John Terry Norum (born 23 February 1964) is a Norwegian-born Swedish guitarist and one of the founders of the rock band Europe. Concurrent to his role with Europe, he also maintains a career as a solo artist. Biography As an infant, Norum moved with his parents to Upplands Väsby (a Stockholm suburb), where he grew up and has spent most of his life. During his career in music, Norum has played with Eddie Meduza & the Roaring Cadillacs, Dokken, Don Dokken's solo band, as well as collaborated with other well-known artists on his solo albums, including Glenn Hughes, Kelly Keeling, Peter Baltes, Simon Wright and Göran Edman. Tony Reno
Tony Peter Niemistö (born 10 February 1963) is a semi-retired Swedish musician, best known as Tony Reno, the original drummer in the rock band Europe. He played on Europe's first two albums, ''Europe'' and '' Wings of Tomorrow''. He was fired from the band by producer Thomas Erdtman without informing the band members before the second leg of the ''Wings of Tomorrow'' tour in 1984. He was replaced by Ian Haugland. In 1986 Niemistö joined the heavy metal band Geisha, replacing Mikkey Dee. Niemistö changed his stage name to Tony Lace, but eventually he went back to using his real name. Geisha released the album ''Phantasmagoria'' in 1987, before splitting up two years later. Geisha's vocalist Yenz Cheyenne then formed the band =Y=, which Niemistö joined. John Levén
John Gunnar Levén (born 25 October 1963) is a Swedish bassist in the rock band Europe. Levén and vocalist Joey Tempest are the only band members who have performed on all of Europe's studio albums. Career Levén was born in Stockholm. When he was seven years old, he and his family moved to the suburb Upplands Väsby, where several members of Europe grew up. He joined the band in 1981, replacing Peter Olsson. In 1985 Levén was the one who suggested that Tempest should write a song based on an old keyboard riff that the vocalist had written around 1981-82. The result was the song " The Final Countdown".
