Béla Drahos
Béla Drahos (born 14 April 1955) is a Hungarian conductor and flautist. Biography Drahos started out as a flautist, joining the orchestra in his hometown when he was just 8 years old. At the age of 12 he became the principal flautist, and as a young man he won several flute competitions. He studied at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, graduating in 1978. He did not make his conducting debut until 1992 with an all-Beethoven programme. His first recording as a conductor was a disc of three Haydn symphonies for Naxos Records. He has also been soloist and conductor in a disc of Vivaldi flute concerti, as well as conducting flute concerti by Leopold Hofmann with another soloist. Moreover, he worked with the Hungarian composer Robert Gulya and the Austrian guitarist Johanna Beisteiner and published recordings with them for Gramy Records. Lajos Drahos (7 March 1895 – 2 June 1983) was a Hungarian Communist politician, who served as Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary between 1949 and 1951. He is the Director of the Centre for Governance of Knowledge and Development and was formerly the Head of Program of the Regulatory Institutions Network at the Australian National University. Nick Drahos (December 6, 1918 – May 12, 2018) was an American football end. He was selected in the 11th round of the 1941 NFL draft. He played college football at Cornell University and was a member of the Sphinx Head Society. Jiří Drahoš
Jiří Drahoš (born 20 February 1949; ) is a Czech physical chemist and politician who has been the Senator of Prague 4 since October 2018. Previously, Drahoš served as President of the Czech Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2017, and was a candidate in the 2018 Czech presidential election. Born in Český Těšín and raised in nearby Jablunkov, Drahoš studied physical chemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, and joined the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1973, which he later led from 1995 to 2003. In 2009, he was elected President of the Czech Academy of Sciences. His term as head of the academy ended on 24 March 2017. In March 2017, Drahoš announced his candidacy for President of the Czech Republic in the 2018 election.
