Dragutin Mate
Dragutin Mate (born 2 May 1963) is a former Slovenian diplomat and politician of Croat origins. He was a member of the Slovenian Democratic Party (2008–2016). Between 2004 and 2008 he served as Minister of Interior in the centre-right government led by Janez Janša and between 2011 and 2014, he was a deputy in the National Assembly. Biography Mate was born in Čakovec, Croatia, (then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) to Croatian parents. He spent his childhood in the city of Maribor in eastern Slovenia, where his parents moved for professional reasons. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana. In 1989 he started working as a high school teacher at the Poljane Grammar School in Ljubljana. Čakovec
Čakovec (; ; ; ) is a city in Northern Croatia, located around north of Zagreb, the Croatian capital, and close to the borders with Slovenia and Hungary. Democratic Opposition of Slovenia, also known as DEMOS (in Slovenian: ''Demokratična opozicija Slovenije''), was a coalition of centre-right political parties created by an agreement between the Slovenian Democratic Union, the Social Democrat Alliance of Slovenia, the Slovene Christian Democrats, the Farmers' Alliance, and the Greens of Slovenia. All these parties emerged in late 1989, when the communist government permitted multiparty political life in Slovenia. The leader of the coalition was the well-known dissident Jože Pučnik. The Croats are an ethnic group in Slovenia. In the 2002 census 35,642 citizens of Slovenia identified themselves as Croats while around 54,000 people declared Croatian as their mother tongue, making them second most-populous non-Slovene ethnic group in Slovenia. Katarina Kresal (born 28 January 1973) is a Slovenian politician. She was the Ministry of the Interior (Slovenia), Minister of the Interior in the government of Borut Pahor from 24 November 2008 till 19 August 2011. 2008 Slovenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 21 September 2008 to elect the 90 deputies of the National Assembly (Slovenia), National Assembly. Borut Pahor (; born 2 November 1963) is a Slovenian politician who served as President of Slovenia from 2012 to 2022. He previously served as Prime Minister of Slovenia from 2008 to 2012.
