Donn
In Irish mythology, Donn ("the dark one", from ) is an ancestor of the Gaels and is believed to have been a god of the dead. Donn is said to dwell in Tech Duinn (the "house of Donn" or "house of the dark one"), where the souls of the dead gather. He may have originally been an aspect of the Dagda. Folklore about Donn survived into the modern era in parts of Ireland, in which he is said to be a phantom horseman riding a white horse. Early literary sources A 9th-century poem says that Donn's dying wish was that all his descendants would gather at Donn's house or ''Tech Duinn'' (modern Irish ''Teach Duinn'') after death: "To me, to my house, you shall all come after your deaths". The 10th-century tale ''Airne Fíngein'' ("Fíngen's Vigil") says that Tech Duinn is where the souls of the dead gather. Éber Donn
In Irish mythology, Éber Donn ("Eber the brown" or "the noble") is the eldest son of Míl Espáine, the mythical ancestor of the Irish people. Unlike his brothers, Érimón, Eremon, Éber Finn and Amergin Glúingel, Amergin, Éber Donn was unable to land in Ireland, and was killed by a shipwreck off the island's southwest coast. As reported by Lebor Gabála Érenn, Éber Donn slighted the goddess Ériu, who predicted that neither he nor his offspring would land safely on the soil of Ireland. He was buried by his brothers in Tech Duinn, a rocky island off the Irish coast. According to one interpretation Éber Donn would be a continuation of the Celtic deity of death Donn, since both are connected with Tech Duinn, a place commonly identified with Bull Rock, a rocky islet off the coast of the Beara Peninsula. Gaulish Dis Pater
In Book 6 of his ''Commentaries on the Gallic War'', Julius Caesar refers to a Gaulish god whom the druids believed that all the Gauls were descended from. He does not give this god's name, but (following the practice of ''interpretatio romana'') refers to him under the name of a Roman god he deemed comparable: Dis Pater, Roman god of prosperity and of the underworld. The identification of the god behind Caesar's description has been a long-standing subject of Celtic religious research. The most often cited candidate for "Gaulish Dis Pater" is Sucellus, a mallet-wielding god of the Gauls. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (, ), also known as Diarmuid of the Love Spot, is a hero and demigod in the Fenian Cycle of Irish mythology, traditionally thought to be set in the 2nd to 4th century. He is the son of Donn, son of Duibhne of the Fianna, and Cochrann, daughter of Cathaír Mór. Diarmuid becomes the foster son and protégé of Aengus Óg, one of the Tuatha Dé Danann and the god of love, to the extent that a god of love can be said to exist in the corpus. He grows up to be a skilled warrior and a well-liked, valued member of the Fianna who on one occasion saves Fionn and his band by single-handedly slaying over three thousand enemies in battle. The underworld, also known as the netherworld or hell, is the supernatural world of the dead in various religious traditions and myths, located below the world of the living. Chthonic is the technical adjective for things of the underworld. The concept of an underworld is found in almost every civilization and "may be as old as humanity itself". Amergin ''Glúingel'' ("white knees") (also spelt Amhairghin Glúngheal) or ''Glúnmar'' ("big knee") is a bard and judge for the Milesians in the Irish Mythological Cycle. He was appointed Chief Ollam of Ireland by his two brothers, the kings of Ireland. A number of poems attributed to Amergin are part of the Milesian mythology. Edward John Gwynn (1 April 1868 – 10 February 1941) was an Irish academic who served as the 36th Provost of Trinity College Dublin from 1927 to 1937.
