Donald P. Greenberg
Donald Peter Greenberg (born 1934) is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Computer Graphics at Cornell University. Early life Greenberg earned his undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University, where he played on the tennis and soccer teams and was a member of Tau Delta Phi and the Quill and Dagger society. Career In the late 1960s, Greenberg constructed the so-called "flying diaper" sculpture, which currently stands at the entrance of the Cornell Botanic Gardens. Greenberg joined the Cornell faculty in 1968 with a joint appointment in the Cornell University College of Engineering, College of Engineering and Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, Department of Architecture. Jacob Gould Schurman
Jacob Gould Schurman (May 2, 1854 – August 12, 1942) was a Canadian-American educator and diplomat, who served as President of Cornell University and United States Ambassador to Germany. Early life and education Schurman was born at Freetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on May 2, 1854 the son of Robert and Lydia Schurman. Schurman lived on his parents' farm as a child, then in 1867 took a job at a store near his home, which he held for two years. At the age of fifteen, Schurman entered the Summerside Grammar School on Prince Edward Island, and in 1870 he won a scholarship to study at Prince of Wales College for two years. After Prince of Wales College, he studied for a year and a half at Acadia College in Nova Scotia. Steven Anson Coons
Steven Anson Coons (March 7, 1912 – August 1979) was an early pioneer in the field of computer graphics methods. He was a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the mechanical engineering department. After leaving MIT, he was a professor at Syracuse University. Coons had a vision of interactive graphics as a design tool to aid the engineer. Work While a student at MIT, Coons was employed by the Chance Vought Aircraft Company, in the Master Dimensions Department. He developed a new conic curve based on the unit square.
