Dodge Hornet (2023)
The Dodge Hornet is a five-door, five passenger, all-wheel drive compact crossover SUV marketed by Dodge beginning with model year 2023. It is the brand's smallest vehicle — marketed exclusively in North America and manufactured in Italy as a rebadged variant of the Alfa Romeo Tonale. Overview The Hornet was designed by Jeff Gale, whose father Tom Gale had designed the Dodge Viper, and released in August 2022. Available in four trim levels, GT (entry-level), GT Plus (entry-level luxury trim), R/T (plug-in hybrid), and R/T Plus (plug-in hybrid luxury trim), the Hornet is the brand’s first new model in more than a decade, arriving three years after the discontinuation of the Journey mid-size crossover. Dodge is an American brand of automobiles and a division of Stellantis, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Dodge vehicles have historically included performance cars, and for much of its existence, Dodge was Chrysler's mid-priced brand above Plymouth. Founded as the Dodge Brothers Company machine shop by brothers Horace Elgin Dodge and John Francis Dodge in the early 1900s, Dodge was originally a supplier of parts and assemblies to Detroit-based automakers like Ford. They began building complete automobiles under the "Dodge Brothers" brand in 1914, predating the founding of the Chrysler Corporation. Nitrocross is an American rallycross racing series. Created by rallycross driver Travis Pastrana and the ''Nitro Circus'' production in 2018, its inaugural season began in 2021. The championship is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. History From 2018 to 2019, rallycross was a sport in the Nitro World Games at Utah Motorsports Campus. A concept car (also known as a concept vehicle or show vehicle) is a car made to showcase new styling or new technology. Concept cars are often exhibited at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be produced. General Motors designer Harley Earl is generally credited with inventing the concept car, and did much to popularize it through its traveling Motorama shows of the 1950s. Concept cars never go into production directly. In modern times, all would have to undergo many changes before the design is finalized for the sake of practicality, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost. The Shelby GLH-S is a limited production series of sport compact automobiles from the mid-1980s based on the Dodge Omni and modified by Shelby American. Later the name would also be applied to a Shelby modified version of the Dodge Shelby Charger. The GLH-S models all used intercooled Turbocharger, turbocharged 4-cylinder engines. 1986 The 1986 Shelby Omni GLH-S was a modified Dodge Omni#Dodge Omni GLH, Dodge Omni GLH, with changes made at the Shelby factory. They were retitled as Shelby Automobiles cars sold at select Dodge dealerships. GLH stood for "Goes Like Hell" and GLH-S stood for ''Goes Like Hell S'more.'' Just 500 were made.
