Dissection (band)
Dissection was a Swedish extreme metal band from Strömstad, formed in 1989 by guitarist, vocalist, and main songwriter Jon Nödtveidt and bassist Peter Palmdahl. Despite several lineup changes, Dissection released ''The Somberlain'' in 1993 and ''Storm of the Light's Bane'' in 1995 before splitting up in 1997 due to Nödtveidt's imprisonment for complicity in the Keillers Park murder, murder of Josef Meddour. After his release, Nödtveidt reformed the band in 2004 with new members whom he felt could "stand behind and live up to the demands of Dissection's Satanism, Satanic concept." They released their third and final full-length album, ''Reinkaos'', in April 2006 before disbanding that June. Nödtveidt said he had "reached the limitations of music as a tool for expressing what I want to express, for myself and the handful of others that I care about." Jon Nödtveidt
Jon Andreas Nödtveidt (28 June 1975 – 13 August 2006) was a Swedish musician best known as the founder, vocalist and lead guitarist of the melodic black metal, melodic black/Melodic death metal, death metal band Dissection (band), Dissection. With the band, he released the seminal and influential extreme metal albums ''The Somberlain'' (1993) and ''Storm of the Light's Bane'' (1995). In addition to Dissection, Nödtveidt performed with several other projects, including Ophthalamia, The Black, De Infernali and Nifelheim, and also worked as a journalist for ''Metal Zone'', where he covered the growing black metal scene. In 1998, Nödtveidt was sentenced to ten years in prison for accessory to murder. Ohlin (2012), p. 13. Askim
Askim () is a town and a former municipality in (from January 1, 2020) Indre Østfold municipality in the county of Østfold, Norway. The administrative centre of the Askim municipality was the town of Askim. Askim was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1984. Early Norwegian Black Metal Scene
The early Norwegian black metal scene of the 1990s is credited with shaping the modern black metal genre and producing some of the most acclaimed and influential artists in extreme metal. The scene had a distinct ethos, and its core members referred to themselves as "The Black Circle" or "Black Metal Inner Circle." This group consisted of men who congregated at the record shop Helvete (store), Helvete ("Hell") in Oslo. Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin (16 January 1969 – 8 April 1991), known professionally as Dead, was a Swedish musician who was best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the Early Norwegian black metal scene, Norwegian black metal band Mayhem (band), Mayhem from 1988 until his death in 1991. Prior to Mayhem, he performed as the vocalist in the Swedish Swedish death metal, death/thrash metal, thrash band Morbid (band), Morbid. Kristian Wåhlin (born 4 December 1971) is a Swedish musician, singer, graphic designer and album cover artist for many bands in the extreme metal scene worldwide. He is often credited under his pseudonym Necrolord. Biography Wåhlin's interest in art began while attending Schillerska Grammar School, a secondary educational institution in central Gothenburg. He has referenced Romantic and Renaissance painters like Caspar David Friedrich, Albrecht Dürer and Hieronymus Bosch as early influences. This interest also coincided with the time in which he studied music. At the age of 17, Wåhlin formed Grotesque (as guitarist) with school friend Tomas Lindberg on vocals, Alf Svensson on guitar, and Tomas Eriksson on drums. Entombed is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1987 under the name of Nihilist. Entombed began their career as an early pioneer of Scandinavian death metal which initially differed from its American counterpart by its distinct "buzzsaw" guitar tone. However, by the early 1990s their sound had broadened to include garage rock and other influences. This new style would eventually be described as death 'n' roll.
