Disk Cleanup
Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr.exe) is a computer maintenance utility included in Microsoft Windows designed to free up disk space. It was introduced in Windows 98 and has been a part of Microsoft Windows ever since. In 2018, Microsoft introduced a second cleanup utility 'Storage Sense' in the Settings app with Windows 10 version 1803, but Disk Cleanup remained with Windows. , it is not marked as deprecated. Windows 11 introduced "Cleanup recommendations" as an 'easy to use' alternative to Disk Cleanup, replacing Storage Sense. Windows 11
Windows 11 is a version of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system, released on October 5, 2021, as the successor to Windows 10 (2015). It is available as a free upgrade for devices running Windows 10 that meet the #System requirements, Windows 11 system requirements. Trash (computing)
In computing, the trash, also known by other names such as trash bin, dustbin, wastebasket, and similar names, is a graphical user interface desktop metaphor for temporary storage for computer file, files set aside by the user for deletion, but which are not yet permanently erased. This lifts the burden from the user of having to be highly careful while selecting files for deletion, since a trash bin provides a grace period to reverse unwanted deletions. The concept and name is part of Mac operating systems; a similar implementation is called the Recycle Bin in Microsoft Windows, and other operating systems use other names, sometimes suffix, ending with "-bin". Desktop Cleanup Wizard
The Desktop Cleanup Wizard is a component included with Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. It aims to reduce the clutter in a user's desktop environment by moving unused shortcuts to a separate directory called "Unused Desktop Shortcuts". When run it shows a list of shortcuts, and the user can select which shortcuts to move to the "Unused Desktop Shortcuts" directory. The Desktop Cleanup Wizard works as a scheduled task that runs once a day. If the wizard has not been run for 60 days, the Wizard is displayed to the user. The Desktop Cleanup Wizard is also accessible from the desktop's context menu, in the "Arrange Icons By" sub-menu. System Restore is a feature in Microsoft Windows that allows the user to revert their computer's state (including system files, installed applications, Windows Registry, and system settings) to that of a previous point in time, which can be used to recover from system malfunctions or other problems. In computing, a temporary folder or temporary directory is a directory used to hold temporary files. Many operating systems and some software automatically delete the contents of this directory at bootup or at regular intervals, leaving the directory itself intact. For security reasons, it is best for each user to have their own temporary directory, since there has been a history of security vulnerabilities with temporary files due to programs incorrect file permissions or race conditions. A standard procedure for system administration is to reduce the amount of storage space used (typically, on a disk drive) by removing temporary files.
