Dietlinde Turban
Dietlinde Turban (born 27 August 1957 in Reutlingen in Germany) is the birth name and stage name of Dietlinde Turban Maazel, a German actress. Her brother is the violinist Ingolf Turban. Dietlinde Turban's first stage appearance at the age of 19 as Gretchen in Goethe's Faust at the Residenz-Theatre in Munich brought her national fame. In rapid succession she starred in new productions of Lessing's ''Minna von Barnhelm'' (as Minna), Shakespeare's ''Othello'' (as Desdemona – for which she received the Bad Hersfeld Festival prize for best actress), and in works of Anouilh, Giraudoux and others. She was invited as guest star at the State Theater in Bonn and the Josefstadt Theatre in Vienna. Thanks to scores of films and plays filmed for television, Turban won Germany's coveted Bambi Award by popular vote as Best Actress of the Year (1983). Ingolf Turban
Ingolf Turban (born 17 March 1964) is a German violinist. Life Born in Munich, Turban's mother was a pianist, his father a music-loving physician, his sister Dietlinde_Turban, Dietlinde an actress. At the age of 12 he was accepted into the violin class of in Munich. He also attended courses in the US with Jens Ellermann and Dorothy DeLay. In 1985, he became first concertmaster at the age of 21 of the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache. Celibidache's esteem was expressed in the ''bon mot'', "I am Celi and you are Turbi." In 1986, Celibidache let him perform as a soloist for the first time. In 1988, he left the orchestra and began a successful soloist career. In 1991 he made his debut at La Scala in Milan and in Washington. In 1995, he received a professorship at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. Reutlingen
Reutlingen (; Swabian: ''Reitlenga'') is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is the capital of the eponymous district of Reutlingen. As of June 2018, it has a population of 115,818. Reutlingen has a university of applied sciences, which was founded in 1855, originally as a weavers' school. The Castleton Festival, launched in the summer of 2009, is a program of The Chateauville Foundation, established in 1997 by Lorin Maazel and Dietlinde Turban-Maazel. The Castleton Festival is located on Lorin Maazel's estate in Castleton, Virginia. The Salt Prince
''The Salt Prince'' ( Slovak: ''Soľ nad zlato'', Czech: ''Sůl nad zlato'', German: ''Der Salzprinz'', Italian: ''Il Solto Prinzzo'') is a Slovak fairy-tale movie based on a novel by Pavol Dobšinský. The movie's central lesson is that salt, as it is necessary for life, is more precious than gold and emeralds. Viewpoint Though ostensibly a fairy-tale, ''The Salt Prince'' makes several profound and idealistic observations about life and human nature. It also probes into Slovak cultural heritage and values. Hilde Purwin
Hilde Purwin (born Hildegard Burkhardt: 16 September 1919 – 29 March 2010) was a German journalist. She was exceptionally talented as a linguist and had an unusually powerful memory. She was recruited by the ''Sicherheitsdienst'' (SD) in October 1939. She worked initially as a security services "mail clerk" but in July 1940 was transferred to Berlin where she became an Italian interpreter. In July 1942 she was sent to Rome where at various stages she worked, ostensibly, as a secretary and/or an interpreter. Between September 1943 and July 1944 she played a pivotal role in the so-called "Ciano operation". After the defeat of Nazi Germany the American intelligence services benefited from her wartime intelligence gathering. They also acquired valuable additional intelligence because she took extra carbon copies - unbeknownst to German intelligence - of more than 700 sheets that she had translated from Italian source documents into German during the final months of the war.
