Dick Börjesson
Vice Admiral Dick Roland Börjesson (born 16 July 1938) is a former officer of the Swedish Navy. He was Chief of the Navy from 1990 to 1994 and military commander of the Middle Military District (Milo M) from 1994 to 1998. Early life Börjesson was born on 16 July 1938 in Strömstad, Sweden, the son of Arvid Börjesson and his wife Viola (née Larsson). Career Military career Börjesson attended the Royal Swedish Naval Academy from 1958 to 1961, in the same class as future Rear Admiral Sten Swedlund. Börjesson finished first in his class at the graduation in 1961. He received a reward that was very rarely awarded, namely the Naval Academy's gold token and an honorary saber. He was commissioned as a naval officer with the rank of acting sub-lieutenant. Strömstad is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Strömstad Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 6,288 inhabitants in 2010. MS Estonia
MS ''Estonia'' was a car-passenger ferry built in 1980 for the Finnish shipping company Rederi Ab Sally by Meyer Werft, in Papenburg, West Germany. She was deployed on ferry routes between Finland and Sweden by various companies (first Viking Line, then EffJohn) until the end of January 1993, when she was sold to Nordström & Thulin for use on Estline's Tallinn–Stockholm route. The ship's sinking on 28 September 1994, in the Baltic Sea between Sweden, Finland and Estonia, was one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters of the 20th century, claiming 852 lives. An official inquiry found that failure of the locks on the bow visor caused water to flood the car deck and quickly capsize the ship. The report also noted a lack of crew action. Maritime Museum (Stockholm)
The Maritime Museum () in Stockholm, Sweden is a museum for naval history, merchant shipping and shipbuilding. Located in the Gärdet section of the inner-city district Östermalm, the museum offers a panoramic view of the bay Djurgårdsbrunnsviken. The building was designed by architect Ragnar Östberg and built in 1933–36. Collections The museum houses about 900,000 photos, 50,000 objects and 45,000 drawings, all related to the sea, coast, ships and boats, past and present. A major part of the collection, the boats, are currently exhibited in a facility on Rindö, an island outside Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago. Vice Admiral Bengt Jacob Schuback (15 May 1928 – 4 December 2015) was a Swedish Navy officer. He was Chief of the Defence Staff from 1978 to 1982 during which time the Soviet submarine ''U 137'' ran aground in Swedish waters. Vice Admiral Peter Esbjörn Nordbeck (born 19 July 1938) is a Swedish Navy officer. He was Chief of the Defence Staff from 1992 to 1993 and the Chief of Navy Command from 1994 to 1998. Early life Nordbeck was born on 19 July 1938 in Grängesberg, Sweden, the son of Stig Nordbeck and his wife Kerstin (née Froste). His father, an engineer, was employed by Gränges AB in Grängesberg in Dalarna at the time of Nordbeck's birth. Nordbeck has two siblings and two half-siblings. At the age of one year Nordbeck moved to Karlskrona where his father took up a position as chief engineer at Karlskrona City Municipal Enterprises in 1939.
