Des Ryan
Des Ryan (born 6 October 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond Football Club, Richmond in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). He is the brother of fellow former Richmond player Stephen Ryan (footballer), Stephen Ryan and the uncle of National Basketball League (Australia), NBL players Aaron Bruce, Aaron and Shaun Bruce. In 2016 Des took over the senior coaching role at Cheltenham FNC in the SFNL. Coaching the senior team to the 2019 Grand Final. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. There are rules on how the ball can be handled; for example, players running with the ball must intermittently bounce or touch it on the ground. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. Richmond traditionally wears a black guernsey with a yellow sash. The club song, " We're From Tigerland", is well known for its "yellow and black" refrain. Aaron Bruce
Aaron Michael Bruce (born 19 December 1984) is an Australian former professional basketball player who played four seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Baylor University before playing in the NBL for the Adelaide 36ers and the Sydney Kings. Early life and career Born in Birchip, Victoria, Bruce attended Horsham College in nearby Horsham, where he graduated in 2002. He was part of the very successful Horsham Hornets program which claimed four consecutive Big V titles between 2000 and 2003. Shaun Bruce (born 13 January 1991) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League (NBL). He began his NBL career in 2012 as a development player with the Cairns Taipans, before earning a full-time roster spot in 2013. In 2016, he moved south to join the Brisbane Bullets.
