Denis Haines
Denis Haines is an English musician, best known for his time on keyboards for the Hollies between 1983 and 1991. Haines first came to prominence with new wave band the Doll. He played keyboards for Gary Numan on the album '' Telekon''. Together with Chris Payne, Rrussell Bell and Cedric Sharpley, all of whom had been members of Numan's backing band, he formed new wave band Dramatis in 1981. After leaving the Hollies The Hollies are an English rock and pop band formed in Manchester in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Allan Clarke (singer)
Harold Allan Clarke (born 5 April 1942) is an English rock singer who was one of the founding members and the original lead singer of the Hollies. He achieved international hit singles with the group and is credited as co-writer on several of their best-known songs, including "On a Carousel", "Carrie Anne", " Jennifer Eccles" and " Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress". He retired from performing in 1999, but returned to the music industry in 2019. Clarke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of the Hollies. New Wave Music
New wave is a music genre that encompasses pop music, pop-oriented styles from the 1970s through the 1980s. It is considered a lighter and more melodic "broadening of Punk subculture, punk culture". The Hollies
The Hollies are an English rock and pop band formed in Manchester in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Singer Allan Clarke and rhythm guitarist/singer Graham Nash founded the band as a Merseybeat-type group in Manchester, although some of the band members came from towns further north, in east Lancashire. Nash left the group in 1968 to co-form Crosby, Stills & Nash, though he has reunited with the Hollies on occasion. As well as Clarke and Nash other members have included lead guitarist Tony Hicks, rhythm guitarist Terry Sylvester (who replaced Nash), bassists Eric Haydock and Bernie Calvert, and drummers Don Rathbone and Bobby Elliott. Cedric Sharpley
Cedric Larry Sharpley (2 July 1952 – 13 March 2012) was a South African-born musician who was the drummer with several bands in the 1970s and 1980s, including Gary Numan, Tubeway Army, Druid and Dramatis. With Numan, Sharpley played on five studio albums including the UK number ones '' The Pleasure Principle'' and '' Telekon''. Career Druid Sharpley was born in Cape Town in 1952, and moved with his family to Hertfordshire, England, in the 1960s. In the early 1970s, he co-founded the progressive rock band Druid with Neil Brewer, Andrew McCrorie-Shand and Dane Stevens, releasing two albums with them and performing on ''The Old Grey Whistle Test'' in 1975. Druid split in 1977, and Sharpley went on to join Gary Numan's band Tubeway Army in the spring of 1979, replacing Numan's uncle Jess Lidyard on drums.
