Democrats (Slovenia)
The Democrats () is a Slovenian political party founded by Anže Logar, a long-time member of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) and former foreign minister. The party's founding congress took place on 16 November 2024 in Maribor, where Logar was elected president of the party. History Background After the 2022 presidential election, there was speculation about the future path of Anže Logar, not least because he had won more votes than his SDS party in that year's parliamentary election. On 13 November 2022, after the second round had concluded, Logar said: "Today we are at the beginning of something big". There were rumors that Logar would found his own party, but in the spring of 2023 he announced the founding of the "Cooperation Platform" association. Anže Logar
Anže Logar (born 15 May 1976) is a Slovenian politician who was Minister of Foreign Affairs in the third Janša cabinet from March 2020 to June 2022. Logar served as the director of the Government Communication Office in both Governments of Janez Janša, and served as the official spokesperson of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2008. In the presidential elections of October and November 2022, he was a candidate, but lost to Nataša Pirc Musar. Education and early life In 2000, Logar graduated at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. In January 2006, he obtained his MSc degree at The Graduate School of Government and European Studies. Cyan
Cyan () is the color between blue and green on the visible spectrum of light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength between 500 and 520 nm, between the wavelengths of green and blue. Eva Irgl
Eva Irgl (born 9 December 1976) is a Slovenian politician and former TV host, currently serving as member of the Slovenian National Assembly. Life and career Eva Irgl was born in Šempeter near Nova Gorica in western Slovenia, then part of former Yugoslavia. She was the daughter of an elementary schoolmaster. She spent her childhood in Vipava, Slovenia. She finished the grammar school in Ajdovščina and studied theology at the University of Ljubljana. During her studies, she had passed an audition for the Slovenian national television. She had hosted a TV show for three years and assisted in a morning programme. She also wrote columns for the Mag magazine, which had at the time a right of centre editorial policy. Janez Janša
Ivan Janša (; born 17 September 1958), better known as Janez Janša (), is a Slovenian politician who served three times as a prime minister of Slovenia, a position he had held from 2004 to 2008, from 2012 to 2013, and from 2020 to 2022. Since 1993, Janša has led the Slovenian Democratic Party, which has emerged as the pre-eminent Slovenian conservative party. Janša lost his fourth bid for prime minister in April 2022, his party was defeated by the Freedom Movement (Slovenia), Freedom Movement party. 2022 Slovenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 24 April 2022 to elect all 90 members of the National Assembly. The ruling Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), led by prime minister Janez Janša, conceded and was defeated by Robert Golob and his Freedom Movement (GS). New Slovenia (NSi) placed third, and was followed by the Social Democrats (SD) and The Left (Levica), both of which suffered some losses. The Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia and the Party of Alenka Bratušek fell below the 4% electoral threshold and won no seats. Turnout stood at 70%, a substantial increase compared to previous two elections (52.63% in 2018 and 51.71% in 2014). 2022 Slovenian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Slovenia on 23 October 2022. Incumbent President of Slovenia, President Borut Pahor was ineligible to run for a third consecutive term due to term limits. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a Two-round system, runoff between the top two placing candidates, former foreign minister Anže Logar, an Slovenian Democratic Party, SDS member running as an independent, and independent former Information Commissioner Nataša Pirc Musar, took place on 13 November 2022. Pirc Musar won the runoff with 53.86% of the vote, becoming the first female president of Slovenia. Logar acknowledged his defeat and congratulated Pirc Musar on her victory. Maribor
Maribor ( , , ; also known by other #Name, historical names) is the List of cities and towns in Slovenia, second-largest city in Slovenia and the largest city of the traditional region of Styria (Slovenia), Lower Styria. It is the seat of the Urban Municipality of Maribor and the Drava Statistical Region, Drava statistical region. European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) is one of the two legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. The National Assembly (, or ; short form ''državni zbor'') is the general representative body of Slovenia. According to the Constitution of Slovenia and the Constitutional Court of Slovenia, it is the major part of the distinctively incompletely bicameral Slovenian Parliament, the legislative branch of the Republic of Slovenia. Blue is one of the three primary colours in the RYB color model, RYB colour model (traditional colour theory), as well as in the RGB color model, RGB (additive) colour model.
