Deli Company () is a trading and distribution company in the timber, construction product and tobacco industries. It began as large tobacco plantation and production operation established in 1869 by the Dutch in Sumatra. It was granted a land concession by the Sultanate of Deli. Sumatra () is one of the Sunda Islands of western Indonesia. Deli Serdang Regency
Deli Serdang Regency (; Jawi: دلي سردڠ) is a regency in the Indonesian province of North Sumatra. It surrounds the city of Medan, and also borders to the west the city of Binjai, which is effectively a bedroom community for Medan. The entire regency lies within the Medan metropolitan area. It occupies an area of 2,497.72 km2 (964.38 sq miles). It's administrative center is Lubuk Pakam, which is located approximately 30 km east of Medan. Deli Sultanate
The Sultanate of Deli ( Indonesian: ''Kesultanan Deli Darul Maimoon''; Jawi: ) was a 1,820 km2 Malay state in east Sumatra founded in 1632 when a commander of the Aceh Sultanate, Gocah Pahlawan, conquered the area during the reign of Iskandar Muda. A tributary kingdom from 1630 it was controlled by various sultanates until 1814, when it became independent and broke away from the Sultanate of Siak.Dutch intervention in the mid-19th century resulted in a 1862 contract with the Dutch East Indies, which helped to recognise Deli's formal independence from Aceh and Siak. Deli Railway
N.V. Deli Spoorweg Maatschappij (DSM, ), was a private railway company that operated near the east coast of Sumatra around Deli (now Medan). The Deli Company established itself as a tobacco plantation and then expanded into tea, rubber and timber products. The company was founded in 1883. Routes were built in (cape gauge). It was the last remaining private Dutch railway when it was taken over by the Indonesian State Railways in 1957. All DSM lines are operated under the 1st Regional Division of Indonesian Railways. Kristen Feilberg or Christen Schjellerup Feilberg (26 August 1839 – 1919) was an early Danish photographer who is known mainly for his images captured far beyond the borders of Denmark. From the 1860s until the 1890s, Feilberg participated in expeditions to Sumatra, Singapore, and Penang. In 1867, he exhibited photos at the Paris World Exposition and around 1870 he joined an expedition to the Batak lands of North Sumatra with the Dutch explorer C. de Haan from which he returned with 45 successful "photogrammes". Warehouses Medan, Bindjeij And Laboean
As a continuation of the existing warehouses in the center of Amsterdam, around 1900 several new warehouses were built near the IJ bay. Most of these warehouses were converted into apartments at the end of 20th century. History The area, where the Laboean, Bindjeij and Medan warehouses were built, was known as the Braker Buiten Polder in the mid-19th century. The construction site was almost against the former Westelijke Afsluitdijk. On an elder map from 1746 this area was called Slooten Buyten Dycks. This area was more or less protected by a low summer dike called Kadyck. The warehouses have been built on the grounds of this Kadyck. Sultan Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alam Shah ( Jawi:{{script/Arabic, مأمون الرشيد ڤركاس عالم شاه ) was the 9th king of the Sultanate of Deli. His title after his death was ''Marhum Makmur''.
