Jersey was a Canadian ska punk band from Burlington, Ontario. The band was active from 1996 to 2005, reuniting in 2011 and 2014 but has not released new material since 2004. History In 1997, the band released a demo tape which they sold at local concerts. The band received media attention partially because frontman Greg Taylor was known from his previous band, Grade. The band was signed to Southern Ontario punk label ''Raw Energy'' and released ''No Turning Back'' in 1998. American record label Fueled by Ramen put out the band's second release, '' The Battle's Just Begun'', a year later. The band began touring Canada and the United States heavily in support of the album as well as 2001's release ''Definition'' Recorded and produced by Brian McTernan at Salad Days in Baltimore. In November, 2001 they performed in Toronto with Ensign and Suicide Machines. Burlington is a city in the Regional Municipality of Halton at the northwestern end of Lake Ontario in Ontario, Canada. Along with Milton to the north, it forms the western end of the Greater Toronto Area and is also part of the Hamilton metropolitan census area. Saint Alvia, formerly The Saint Alvia Cartel, was a band formed in 2005 from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. The band's self-titled debut album was nominated for a Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year at the 2008 Juno Awards. History Saint Alvia was formed by Rob Pasalic (formerly of Boys Night Out) and Greg Taylor (formerly of Jersey and Grade). The band is named after Ernest Alvia Smith, Canada's last living recipient of the Victoria Cross for valor in World War II. With roots in punk rock, the band drew inspiration from other genres which included rock and roll, blues, soul, dancehall reggae, country, new wave and hip hop. Garnet Rogers
Garnet Rogers (born May 1955) is a Canadian folk musician, singer, songwriter and composer. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario with roots in Nova Scotia. He began his professional career working with his older brother, folk musician Stan Rogers, and arranging Stan's music. Career Despite Stan Rogers' death on June 2, 1983 (just a few weeks before Stan, Garnet and bass player Jim Morison were to tour the US), Garnet Rogers has pursued his own career since then. At first, Rogers had difficulty getting a permit from the U.S. Immigration Service, which only granted one after a campaign on his behalf was launched by Odetta, ''The Boston Globe'', and a PBS TV station in New York. Headstrong (band)
Headstrong was a Canadian rock band formed in 1998. They released one eponymous studio album under RCA Records before being dropped from the label and ultimately disbanding in 2003. Band history Collectively, the band members all met in 1993 while Kinna, Krass and Matthews were living in Saugeen-Maitland Hall at the University of Western Ontario and Cohen was completing the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College. Among Cohen's classmates at the time was Greg Below, who would later go on to create Distort Entertainment. Brian McTernan is an American musician and record producer from Baltimore, Maryland. McTernan was the lead vocalist in the hardcore punk band Battery, the guitarist in Ashes, and is the singer in Be Well. In 2009, he was named one of "the 50 most influential people in Maryland" by the editors of '' The Daily Record''.
