Death And State Funeral Of Sebastián Piñera
Sebastián Piñera, former President of Chile, died on 6 February 2024 in a helicopter accident while on vacation in the commune of Lago Ranco, Chile, Lago Ranco, located in the southern Chilean region of Los Ríos Region, Los Ríos. The helicopter crashed about from the southern shore of Lake Ranco at Ilihue, east of Lago Ranco. He was 74 years old. Later that evening, President Gabriel Boric, in an address from La Moneda, announced List of national days of mourning (2020–present), three days of national mourning and declared that Piñera would receive a state funeral. Ilihue
Ilihue is a village located in the commune of Lago Ranco in Los Ríos Region, southern Chile. According to the 2013 census, it had a population of approximately 650 inhabitants. It is an area known for being a highly touristic place because it is located in front of Lago Ranco, being a popular place to host hotels, cabins and restaurants. Futrono (from the Mapudungun: ''Futronhue'', meaning "place of smoke") is a city and commune in southern Chile administered by the Municipality of Futrono. It is located in Ranco Province in Los Ríos Region, on the northwest shore of Ranco Lake. The Robinson R44 is a four-seat light helicopter produced by Robinson Helicopter Company since 1992. Derived from the company's two-seat Robinson R22, the R44 features hydraulically assisted flight controls and a larger engine. It was first flown on 31 March 1990 and received FAA certification in December 1992, with the first delivery in February 1993.
