David Oxley
David Oxley (7 November 1920 – 30 October 1985) was an English actor who made many film, television and stage appearances over a 28-year period. He is best known for portraying Gilles de Rais in '' Saint Joan'' (1957), Sir Hugo Baskerville in ''The Hound of the Baskervilles'' (1959) and for the major role of Captain W. Stanley Moss in '' Ill Met by Moonlight'' (1957), based on the true story of the Kidnap of General Kreipe in 1944. Oxley had an extraordinarily powerful voice that he used to great effect, being able to fill an auditorium without the aid of microphones, and seen to best effect as Sir Hugo Baskerville. He trained at the Central School of Dramatic Art in 1946. His stage work included early appearances at Stratford, as well as touring New Zealand with J. C. Williamson Theatres in 1961 as Henry Higgins, in one of two original Australasian productions of ''My Fair Lady''. Yesterday's Enemy
''Yesterday's Enemy'' is a 1959 Hammer Films British war film in MegaScope directed by Val Guest and starring Stanley Baker, Guy Rolfe, Leo McKern and Gordon Jackson set in the Burma Campaign during World War II. It is based on a 1958 BBC teleplay by Peter R. Newman, who turned it into a three-act play in 1960. The TV play was reportedly based on a war crime perpetrated by a British army captain in Burma in 1942.Marcus Hearn, ''The Hammer Vault'', Titan Books, 2011 p. 28 Gordon Jackson repeated his role from the BBC teleplay as Sgt. ''Sea Fury'' is a 1958 British action film directed by Cy Endfield and starring Stanley Baker, Victor McLaglen, Luciana Paluzzi and Grégoire Aslan. It was written by John Kruse and Endfield (as C. Raker Endfield). It was the last film appearance from Victor McLaglen. Plot A qualified First Mate, Abel Hewson, arrives in a Spanish seaside town looking for work on local ships salvaging still-afloat abandoned ships. Abel Hewson and Captain Bellew become love rivals for 18-year-old Josita. Both men go on a dangerous mission to salvage a floating wreck carrying explosives which will detonate on contact with any water. Their rivalry comes between them and their work. ''Danger Man'' (retitled ''Secret Agent'' in the United States for the revived series, and ''Destination Danger'' and ''John Drake'' in other overseas markets) is a British television series that was broadcast between 1960 and 1962, and again between 1964 and 1968. The series featured Patrick McGoohan as secret agent John Drake (Danger Man), John Drake. Ralph Smart created the programme and wrote many of the scripts. ''Danger Man'' was financed by Lew Grade's ITC Entertainment. Series development The idea for ''Danger Man'' originated with Ralph Smart, an associate of Lew Grade, head of ITC Entertainment.
