Owen Danoff
Owen Danoff (born November 3, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter from Washington, D.C. He was a contestant on season 10 of NBC's '' The Voice'' where he reached the top 11. Life and career Owen Danoff was exposed to music from an early age. His father is Grammy award winner Bill Danoff, a songwriter and original member of the Starland Vocal Band. As a child, he was immersed in his family's musical culture and can recall joining his father onstage at shows. At the age of 15, Danoff wrote and self-produced his first original song using an audio recorder given to him that same day. He attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. After high school, Danoff studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a degree in film scoring. William Thomas Danoff (born May 7, 1946) is an American songwriter and singer. He is known for “ Afternoon Delight", which he wrote and performed as a member of the Starland Vocal Band, and for writing multiple hits for John Denver, including "Take Me Home, Country Roads". Early life and education Danoff is a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts, and of Georgetown University. Career Starland Vocal Band On the strength of their track record as songwriters, Danoff and Taffy Nivert recorded several albums before forming the Starland Vocal Band with local musicians Jon Carroll and Margot Chapman. The group recorded " Afternoon Delight" which became a hit in July 1976, reaching #1 on the Hot 100 on July 10. Bettye Danoff
Bettye Jane Danoff (née Mims; May 21, 1923 – December 22, 2011) was an American professional golfer. She was one of the 13 founding members of the LPGA, in 1950. Danoff began playing golf at age 6. Her parents had opened a driving range and nine-hole golf course in Grand Prairie Texas. She also played under the names Bettye Mims White and Bettye Mims Danoff. The LPGA Tour was not founded until 1950. Before then, she won four straight Dallas Women's Golf Association Championships in addition to two Texas Women's Amateur Championship. In 1947, she defeated Babe Zaharias, 1 up, in the Texas Women's Open. Zaharias had won 17 consecutive tournaments before losing to Danoff.
