Dan Hays
Daniel Phillip Hays (April 24, 1939) is a Canadians, Canadian politician born in Calgary, Alberta. He was Speaker of the Senate of Canada from 2001 to 2006, when he became Leader of the Government (Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal) in the Senate of Canada, Senate. Hays was the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Canada), Leader of the Opposition in the 39th Canadian Parliament (2006-2007), and chair of numerous Senate committees. He is the only child of Muriel and Harry Hays, who served as Minister of Agriculture (Canada), Minister of Agriculture in the government of Prime Minister of Canada, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. Dan Hays married Kathy in 2001. He has three daughters from his previous marriage. Bert Brown
Bert Brown (March 22, 1938 – February 3, 2018) was a Canadian senator, farmer, and development consultant. Early life Brown farmed in Kathyrn, Alberta, from 1969 to 1999, after which they sold their family farm. After retiring from the Senate of Canada in March 2013, he returned to land development consulting. He attended Mount Royal College and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was married to Alice Taylor (1965) and has one child. Western Canada High School
Western Canada High School is a public high school in Calgary, Alberta that has operated since 1929. The high school was antedated by Western Canada College, a boys' preparatory school in the style of a British public school that opened in 1903. The College existed until the end of the 1926 academic year when it closed due to financial problems. The Calgary Board of Education purchased the property that year, and by September 1929 completed a group of new school buildings on the site. From 1929 to 1935 academic and technical schools operated independently on the Western property, until which time they merged under a single administration. Western Canada is one of Calgary's oldest and most prestigious educational institutions. Harry Hays
Harry William Hays (25 December 1909 – 4 May 1982) was a Canadian politician, 27th Mayor of Calgary, Cabinet minister in the government of Lester B. Pearson, and Senator from Alberta. Personal life Born in Carstairs, Alberta, to a family originally from Missouri, Hays had several careers related to agriculture. He was an auctioneer, rancher and breeder as well as a radio broadcaster. He was a founding member and president of the Alberta Poultry Breeders' Association and also served as president of the Alberta Holstein Breeders' Association. He led the Canadian Swine Breeders during World War II when it initiated the "Bacon for Britain" campaign of increased production as part of the war effort.
