''Daddy-O'' is a 1959 B movie starring Dick Contino, Sandra Giles and Bruno VeSota. It was directed by Lou Place and written by David Moessinger. The film is notable for its soundtrack as being the debut film score for John Williams. The film was released by American International Pictures as a double feature with '' Roadracers''. It was later featured as a movie mocked by ''Mystery Science Theater 3000''. ''Daddy-O'' was produced by Elmer C. Rhoden Jr. who also produced '' The Delinquents'' (1957) and ''The Cool and the Crazy'' (1958). Plot Hotshot street-racer Phil Sandifer (Contino) is working as a truck driver when he is harassed by a sports car driving on the highway. Daddy-O Daylie
Holmes Daylie (May 15, 1920 – February 6, 2003) was a radio jock on radio stations in the 1940s and 1950s who rhymed, rapped, and played bebop and was one of the early pioneers of black-appeal radio. His upbeat patter and rhyming delivery from the 1940s to 1970s on stations WAAF, WMAQ, WAIT, WGN and other broadcast outlets and television stations brought Daddy-O-Daylie, as he was known, fame and following amongst both black and white audiences. He was inducted into the Black Radio Hall of Fame in Atlanta in 1990. Early life Daylie's mother died giving birth in Covington, Tennessee and his father passed away 5 years later; then an older brother, Clinton (he was the youngest of 12 siblings,) took him in. Glenn K. Bolton, (born February 20, 1961) widely known as Daddy-O, is an American rapper and record producer. He began his career by founding the hip-hop group Stetsasonic. He is known as an early advocate of sampling in music. Career In 1981, Daddy-O began his career as the lead member of the band Stetsasonic, which included Prince Paul, in Brooklyn, New York. Mary Joan Okum (''née'' Kath; October 27, 1924 – December 8, 2015), known by her performing name Bonnie Lou, was an American musical pioneer, recognized as one of the first female rock and roll singers. She is also one of the first artists to gain crossover success from country music to rock and roll. She was the "top name" on the first country music program regularly broadcast on a national TV network. Wideboys
The Wideboys are an English electronic music duo known for club remixes and for their own song "Sambuca", featuring Dennis G on vocals, which reached number 15 in the UK in October 2001. Another top 40 single, "Daddy-O" featuring Shaznay Lewis, reached No. 32 in 2008. The Wideboys compose and release many of their own productions, especially favouring the 12-inch vinyl format for club DJs. In 1998, they began producing dance remixes of songs by other artists, which led to fame in 2000 for two remixes featuring Craig David on vocals: " Re-Rewind" and " Woman Trouble", both by Artful Dodger. Bob "Daddy-O" Wade
Bob "Daddy-O" Wade (January 6, 1943 – December 23, 2019) was an American artist, based in Austin, Texas, who helped shape the 1970s Texas Cosmic Cowboy counterculture. He is best known for creating whimsical out-sized sculptures of Texas symbols. He was known for his uninhibited style and received attention as a serious artist in some art circles. Wade made hand-tinted large photo-emulsion canvases of vintage photographs, some of which were exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Wade built a giant, 2,600 pound iguana, known as "Iggy", which sat on top of the Lone Star Cafe in New York City from 1978 to 1989. "Iggy" changed owners a few times after the Lone Star Cafe closed and now resides atop the Fort Worth Zoo's Burnett Animal Health Science Center and greets visitors driving into the zoo grounds.
