DFRI
The Digital Freedom and Rights Association (DFRI, sv, Föreningen för digitala fri- och rättigheter) is a Swedish non-profit digital rights organisation with circa 70 members. DFRI is a member of European Digital Rights (EDRi). The organisation believes in "freedom of speech, transparency and freedom of information, personal integrity and the individuals' rights to control the use of their personal information and digital footprints". It operates eight Tor exit relays in Sweden. DFRI has also taken a stand against video surveillance. In March 2016, DFRI members showed up at an event for the CCTV business organisation, filming (or possibly pretending to film) the visitors of the event. EDRi
European Digital Rights (EDRi) is an international advocacy group headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. EDRi is a network collective of non-profit organizations (NGO), experts, advocates and academics working to defend and advance digital rights across the continent. As of October 2022, EDRi is made of more than 40 NGOs, as well as experts, advocates and academics from all across Europe. EDRi was founded in June 2002 in Berlin by ten non-profits from seven countries, as a result of a growing awareness of the importance of European policymaking in the digital environment. Digital rights are those human rights and legal rights that allow individuals to access, use, create, and publish digital media or to access and use computers, other electronic devices, and telecommunications networks. The concept is particularly related to the protection and realization of existing rights, such as the right to privacy and freedom of expression, in the context of digital technologies, especially the Internet. Tor (anonymity Network)
Tor, short for The Onion Router, is free and open-source software for enabling anonymous communication. It directs Internet traffic through a free, worldwide, volunteer overlay network, consisting of more than seven thousand relays, to conceal a user's location and usage from anyone performing network surveillance or traffic analysis. Using Tor makes it more difficult to trace a user's Internet activity.
