Curious George
Curious George is a fictional monkey who is the title character of a series of popular children's picture books written by Margret and H. A. Rey. Various media, including films and TV shows, have been based upon the original book series. George is described as "a good little monkey, and always very curious". Despite being referred to as a monkey throughout the series, he is depicted without a tail. In the first book, George is caught by "The Man in the Yellow Hat" and taken from Africa to America where the two live together. George and the Man in the Yellow Hat become friends and are shown going on adventures together. ''Curious George Flies a Kite'' is a children's book written for beginning readers by Margret Rey, illustrated by H. A. Rey, and published by Houghton Mifflin in 1958. It is the fifth book in the original Curious George series and the only one the Reys did not write together. Plot Curious George, left alone at home with his new ball, looks out the window and sees a small house. He jumps out the window, inside the house sees a lot of bunnies. He accidentally lets one out, plays hide and seek with the bunny, and lets it back in the house. As George walks back home, he sees a fisherman fishing and is inspired to fish too. When he uses cake (for fishing bait), he catches no fish. After two failed attempts for catching the fish, he eats the rest of the cake (as he realized he loved cake too). ''Curious George'' is a 1980 television series with five-minute short cartoons starring Curious George. The show was produced by Alan Shalleck, along with co-creator of Curious George, Margret Rey. History In 1977, Alan Shalleck approached Margret Rey, co-creator of Curious George, and proposed making a television series. This led to the creation of the 1980s television show funded by Lafferty, Harwood, and Partners. Shalleck and Rey produced more than 100 five-minute episodes, as well as more than two dozen books. The shorts later aired on Nickelodeon in 1986, then on The Disney Channel as a segment of the program ''Lunch Box'' in 1989.
