Crux (comics)
''Crux'' is an American comic book published by CrossGen Entertainment from May 2001 to February 2004. It was cancelled due to bankruptcy in 2004. ''Crux'' was one of the later titles that came first in a sort of second wave of Crossgen titles which included '' Sojourn'' and '' Brath''. It detailed the exploits of six Atlanteans who were put into stasis and are awoken 100,000 years later. Plot synopsis The main story arc centered on Capricia and the other Atlanteans efforts to revive the remaining Atlanteans still in stasis and to find out what happened to the human race, and perhaps to a latter extent how to go through 'transition' themselves. The group go through a series of battles with Negation forces who eventually attempt a full-scale invasion of Earth. Aristophanes
Aristophanes (; grc, Ἀριστοφάνης, ; c. 446 – c. 386 BC), son of Philippus, of the deme Kydathenaion ( la, Cydathenaeum), was a comic playwright or comedy-writer of ancient Athens and a poet of Old Attic Comedy. Eleven of his forty plays survive virtually complete. These provide the most valuable examples of a genre of comic drama known as Old Comedy and are used to define it, along with fragments from dozens of lost plays by Aristophanes and his contemporaries. In comics in the United States, a trade paperback (shortened: TPB or trade) is a collection of stories originally published in comic books, reprinted in book format, usually presenting either a complete miniseries, a story arc from a single title, or a series of stories with an arc or common theme. A trade paperback may reproduce the stories either at the same size in which they were originally presented (in comic book format), in a smaller " digest-sized" format, or a larger-than-original hardcover. This article applies to both paperback and hardcover collections. In the comics industry, the term "trade paperback market" may refer to the market for any collection, regardless of its actual cover. A trade paperback differs from a graphic novel in that a graphic novel is usually original material. Steve Epting
Stephen "Steve" Epting is an American comics artist. He is best known for his work on '' The Avengers'' and ''Captain America'' for Marvel Comics. Early life Epting's influences include Alex Raymond, Stan Drake, Jim Holdaway, Joe Kubert, John Buscema, Al Williamson, and José Luis García-López. Epting received a BFA in graphic design from the University of South Carolina. Career In 1989, Epting read of a contest being conducted by independent comic book publisher First Comics, with the winner's story to be published by the company. Mark Waid
Mark Waid (; born March 21, 1962) is an American comic book writer best known for his work on DC Comics titles ''The Flash'', '' Kingdom Come'' and '' Superman: Birthright'' as well as his work on ''Captain America'', '' Fantastic Four'' and ''Daredevil'' for Marvel. From August 2007 to December 2010, Waid served as Editor-in-Chief and later Chief Creative Officer of Boom! Studios, where he also published his creator-owned series ''Irredeemable'' and ''Incorruptible''. In October 2018, Waid joined Humanoids Publishing as Director of Creative Development before being promoted to Publisher in February 2020. Negation (comics)
''Negation'' was a comic book series published from CrossGen. Tony Bedard was the writer for the entire run. Paul Pelletier was the artist for most of the issues, with an occasional fill-in artist on some issues. The series started with the ''Negation Prequel'' in late 2001. 27 regular issues followed the prequel. The series concerned a group of different alien races that had been taken prisoner and brought to the Negation universe. A number of the prisoners had innate superhuman powers while many, like Obregon Kaine, were ordinary humans. His tactical military experience made him able to lead the prisoners. He masterminded the plan that allowed a number of his fellow prisoners to escape the prison planet all of them were being held in. The series details the adventures which Kaine and the rest had in Negation space. The series ended with issue #27. Brath (comics)
''Brath'' was an American comic book published by CrossGen Entertainment from February 2003 to June 2004. It ran for 15 issues (including the prequel) before the series had to end due to bankruptcy of CrossGen in 2004. The series was written by Chuck Dixon, and penciled by Andrea Di Vito. Brath was set in the fictional world of Hann Jin, which has also been seen in other CrossGen titles such as '' Way of the Rat'' and '' The Path''. Dixon and DiVito researched various parts of history when writing ''Brath''. As such, much of Brath's diegesis is akin to films like ''Gladiator'' and ''Braveheart''. Sojourn (comics)
''Sojourn'' is a fantasy comic book series published by CrossGen. The series follows the adventures of the archer Arwyn and her companions as they battle undead dictator Mordath. Unlike other CrossGen comics, ''Sojourn'' does not center on a Sigil-Bearer, but instead depicts a villainous Sigil-Bearer whom the heroes are tasked with defeating. It ran for 35 issues from 2001 to 2004 until it was forced to end by the bankruptcy of CrossGen. For a time, this series was Crossgen's highest grossing comic. Premise The comic takes place in the world of Quin, which comprises five lands inhabited by different races. The lands were ruled by the human dictator Mordath, who conquered Quin with an army of trolls, until he was killed in battle with the mysterious Ayden.
