Croatia is a European Parliament constituency for elections in the European Union covering the member state of Croatia. It is currently represented by eleven Members of the European Parliament. Members are elected by proportional representation using open lists. European Parliament Constituency
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are elected by the population of the member states of the European Union (EU). The European Electoral Act 2002 allows member states the choice to allocate electoral subdivisions or constituencies (, , , ) for the European Parliament elections in several different ways. Most EU countries operate a single national constituency which elects MEPs for the whole country. Belgium and Ireland are each subdivided into constituencies, with electoral results calculated separately in each constituency. Germany, Italy and Poland are each subdivided into electoral districts, with the number of representatives determined at the national level after each election in proportion to the votes cast in each district. Tonino Picula (born 31 August 1961) is a Croatian politician currently serving his third term as a Member of the European Parliament for Croatia, having successfully run in 2013, 2014, and 2019 European elections. Croatian People's Party – Liberal Democrats
The Croatian People's Party – Liberal Democrats ( hr, Hrvatska narodna stranka – Liberalni demokrati or HNS – LD) is a social- liberal political party in Croatia. As of April 2015 HNS forms a parliamentary club with 5 members in the Croatian Parliament, making them the fourth largest party in Croatia in terms of parliament representation. Jozo Radoš (; born 3 November 1956) is a Croatian liberal politician currently serving as one out of 11 Croatian members of the European Parliament. He previously served as a Minister of Defence, member of the Croatian Parliament and as an observer in the European Parliament for Croatia. Croatian Peasant Party
The Croatian Peasant Party ( hr, Hrvatska seljačka stranka, HSS) is an agrarian political party in Croatia founded on 22 December 1904 by Antun and Stjepan Radić as Croatian Peoples' Peasant Party (HPSS). The Brothers Radić believed that the realization of Croatian statehood was possible within Austria-Hungary, but that it had to be reformed as a Monarchy divided into three equal parts – Austria, Hungary, Croatia. After the creation of Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1918, Party requested for the Croatian part of the Kingdom to be based on self-determination. Marijana Petir (born 4 October 1975) is a Croatian politician, former Member of the European Parliament. Biography She stems from the village of Mustafina Klada in Moslavina. Petir graduated from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb and the Faculty of Catholic Theology in Zagreb. She also completed postgraduate studies in Nonprofit Management and Social Advocacy at the University of Zagreb. The Croatian Labourists – Labour Party ( hr, Hrvatski laburisti - Stranka rada) is a social-democratic and democratic socialist political party in Croatia. Nikola Vuljanić (born 25 June 1949) is a Croatian politician, member of the left-wing Croatian Labour Party, and former member of the European Parliament. Early life Nikola Vuljanić was born in Karlovac, and graduated at the University of Zagreb with an MA in philology. He started to work in education as an English language school teacher. Afterwards, he became a university teacher of technical English.
