Cristina Bowerman
Cristina Bowerman is an Italian chef, who holds a Michelin star at Glass Hostaria in Rome. She originally studied foreign languages and law, and worked as a graphic designer. However, she trained at Le Cordon Bleu and began working as a chef when she returned to Italy. Biography Cristina Bowerman was born in Apulia, in southern Italy. She first trained in foreign languages and studied law, and then went on to work as a graphic designer in Austin, Texas. Bowerman then studied culinary arts for two years at the University of Texas at Austin and Le Cordon Bleu. She later said that the chef Egil Valentin had been her most significant teacher and praised the experience she gained at David Bull's restaurant, 5 Diamonds. When she returned to Italy in 2006, Bowerman began working at the Glass Hostaria restaurant in Rome. Cerignola (; nap, label= Cerignolano, Ceregnòule ) is a town and ''comune'' of Apulia, Italy, in the province of Foggia, southeast from the town of Foggia. Testaccio is the 20th ''rione'' of Rome, identified by the initials R. XX, deriving its name from Monte Testaccio. It is located within the Municipio I. Its coat of arms depicts an '' amphora'', referencing to the broken vessels that Monte Testaccio is made of. Citymeals on Wheels, also called Citymeals, is a Meals on Wheels-type nonprofit organization in New York City that raises private funds to provide prepared meals and social support to homebound elderly residents of New York City. History Gael Greene and James Beard founded Citymeals on Wheels in 1981 to supplement the government's meal delivery program. Greene had the idea after reading a newspaper article about homebound elderly New Yorkers with nothing to eat on weekends and holidays. Greene approached Beard with the idea, and the two raised money to provide Christmas dinners for 6,000 needy elderly at a cost of $35,000. The success of the program inspired them to continue the following year. Citymeals has an annual budget of $20 million and had 15,412 volunteers in 2016. The majority of the organization's funding comes from donations from private individuals. The current executive director is Beth Shapiro, who took over from founding director Marcia Stein in 2011.
