Courthouse Green
Courthouse Green is a suburb in the north of Coventry. It is bordered by Bell Green in the northwest, by Stoke Heath, Coventry, Stoke Heath in the south, and by Foleshill in the southeast. Longfield House Longfield House is a 16-story block of flats about 51 m tall situated on Bell Green Road, Courthouse Green. It was completed in 1967, and contains 129 flats. Shopping and Park and Ride Courthouse Green is home to a Sainsbury's superstore, pharmacy, bank, and petrol station, and a number of fast food outlets, a gym, a warehouse and a home improvement store which are adjacent to the A444 road, in addition the Gallagher Retail Park is on the opposite side of the A444. Longfield is a village in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It is located 6 miles south east of Dartford and the same distance south-west of Gravesend. History The place in Kent is recorded as ''Langanfelda'' in the Saxon Charters of 964-995, and as ''Langafel'' in the Domesday Book of 1086. Bell Green
Bell Green is predominantly a residential area of in the north east of Coventry, West Midlands, England about 2.5 miles from the city centre. It was once home to over 50 different types of shops but due to the current economic climate and the council charging high rental prices for out of town shopping, there now remains only a handful. Riley Square Bell Green has a shopping centre called Riley Square, which has a variety of shops surrounded by flats. There is also a public library and learning centre on the square. Bell Green health centre is situated just outside Riley Square. Bell Green has high levels of social and economic deprivation and has experienced significant problems with low-level crime and antisocial behaviour, however, the crime rate is relatively low compared to neighbouring districts such as Wood End and Manor House. Stoke Heath, Coventry
Stoke Heath is a residential area of Coventry, West Midlands, England. It is situated approximately to the north east of the city centre. It borders Courthouse Green to the north, Wyken to the east and Stoke to the south with its western edge demarcated by the A444. History and development The area merited no special mention in medieval records and seems to have been open country and grazing land held by the manors of Wyken and Caludon until the late 17th century. On 3 April 1604 Princess Elizabeth came from Coombe Abbey to Coventry. The Mayor and Aldermen of Coventry met her at "Jabet's Ash on Stoke-green". The civil parish of Stoke Heath, created out of in the west of Wyken in 1920, became part of Coventry in 1928. Foleshill
Foleshill is a suburb in the north of Coventry in the West Midlands of England. Longford, Courthouse Green and Rowley Green are to its north and Keresley is to its west. The population of the Ward at the 2011 census was 19,943. History Foleshill was originally a village and parish to the north of Coventry, it was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 along with Ansty as part of the estate formerly held by Lady Godiva. The meaning of the name is believed to be derived from 'hill of the folk or people' (Folks Hill). Foleshill was originally part of Warwickshire, but became part of the County of the City of Coventry from 1451 to 1842, when it again became part of Warwickshire. Coventry Park And Ride
Coventry Park and Ride is a park and ride system, operated under contract to Coventry City Council and Transport for West Midlands, in the English city of Coventry. The scheme was launched in 1999 to relieve traffic congestion and to provide a cheaper alternative to city centre parking. The service was jointly operated by Coventry City Council, Centro and Travel de Courcey, with Centro and Coventry City Council jointly responsible for the marketing and setting fares. Buses shuttled passengers between a large free carpark at Austin Drive, Courthouse Green, to and from the city centre. In June 2012 Travel de Courcey introduced three electric buses to the route, each with a capacity of 40 passengers. This was claimed to be the first use of rapidly rechargeable electric buses in the UK. Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) is the public body responsible for co-ordinating transport services in the West Midlands metropolitan county in England. It is an executive body of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), with bus franchising and highway management powers similar to Transport for London. TfWM's policies and strategy are set by the Transport Delivery Committee of the WMCA. Morris Engines
Morris Engines Limited was located in Coventry, Coventry, England. It specialised in the mass production of engines and gearboxes for vehicles made by W. R. Morris's businesses, later known as the Nuffield Organization. Morris Engines Ltd. was, therefore, partly responsible for Morris Motors Ltd. becoming Britain's leading motor manufacturer. Early years The Hotchkiss et Cie, Hotchkiss company of France, who were makers of the famous machine gun, hurriedly transferred production to England during World War I when it looked as if their Saint-Denis, Seine-Saint-Denis, St. Denis factory near Paris was going to be overrun by the Germans.
