County Route 66 (Monroe County, New York)
The Monroe County, New York, Department of Transportation maintains of roads as county routes. Unlike most counties in New York, Monroe County does not post reassurance markers along its county routes. In fact, the only field reference to a route's designation are reference markers posted at bridges and culverts along the highway, which carry the county route number on the second line. Routes that do not cross either type of structure at some point are completely unsigned. As a result, county routes in Monroe County are widely known by their road name and not by their number. Route numbers were initially assigned across the county from east to west, beginning at the Wayne County line and generally progressing westward to the Orleans County line. Subsequent routes (those above County Route 238 or CR 238) do not follow this pattern and are located in all areas of the county. New York State Route 18
New York State Route 18 (NY 18) is an east–west state highway in western New York in the United States. It runs parallel to the south shore of Lake Ontario for most of its length between Niagara County and Monroe County. NY 18, which also passes through Orleans County, acts as a northerly alternate to NY 104, another east–west route that parallels NY 18 to the south on Ridge Road. The western terminus of NY 18 is at a complex grade-separated interchange with NY 104 outside the village of Lewiston. Its eastern terminus is at a junction with NY 104 in an area of Rochester known as Eastman Business Park. Irondequoit Bay
Irondequoit Bay is a large body of water located in northeastern Monroe County, New York. The bay, roughly wide and in length, is fed by Irondequoit Creek to the south and flows into Lake Ontario at its northern end. On average, the surface of Irondequoit Bay rests at above sea level and is deep at its deepest point a short distance north of the Irondequoit Bay Bridge carrying the six-lane New York State Route 104 over the bay. The center of the bay acts as the eastern border for the town of Irondequoit and the western border of the towns of Penfield and Webster. The Irondequoit–Penfield boundary continues along the center of Irondequoit Creek south of the New York State Route 404 float bridge. New York State Route 250
New York State Route 250 (NY 250) is a north–south state highway in the eastern portion of Monroe County, New York, in the United States. It extends for just over from an intersection with NY 96 in the town of Perinton to a junction with Lake Road (former NY 18) near the Lake Ontario shoreline in the town of Webster. NY 250 passes through the villages of Fairport and Webster, where it meets NY 31F and NY 104, respectively. The highway is the easternmost north–south state route in Monroe County. Lake Road (Western New York)
Lake Road is an east–west roadway in western New York in the United States. It extends for from the Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge in the Monroe County town of Webster to New York State Route 14 (NY 14) in the Wayne County village of Sodus Point. As its name implies, it follows the southern shore of Lake Ontario for its entire length. Lake Road serves as the northern terminus of NY 250 and was once the northern terminus of NY 21. The entirety of the roadway east of Bay Road in Webster is part of the Seaway Trail, a National Scenic Byway. The portion of Lake Road west of NY 250 in Webster became part of NY 18 in the early 1930s. NY 18 never extended eastward from its junction with NY 250. New York State Route 215 (1940s–1970s)
New York State Route 215 (NY 215) was a north–south state highway located within the town of Hamlin in Monroe County, New York, in the United States. It served as the primary highway to and from Hamlin Beach State Park prior to the construction of the Lake Ontario State Parkway. The southern terminus of the route was at an intersection with NY 360 east of the hamlet of Morton. Its northern terminus was at the park on the shore of Lake Ontario. The entirety of NY 215 was named Redman Road. NY 215 was assigned in the early 1940s to provide a signed connection between NY 360 and Hamlin Beach State Park. It ceased to exist in the early 1970s once it was severed from the Lake Ontario shoreline by a westward extension of the Lake Ontario State Parkway. Brockport is a village in the Town of Sweden, with two tiny portions in the Town of Clarkson, in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 7,104 at the 2020 U.S. Census. The name is derived from Heil Brockway, an early settler. It is also home to The College at Brockport, State University of New York. New York State Route 360 (NY 360) was an east–west state highway located in northwestern Monroe County, New York, in the United States. It extended for through the town of Hamlin from an intersection with NY 272 at the Monroe– Orleans county line to a junction with NY 19 north of the hamlet of Hamlin. NY 360 intersected the former southern terminus of NY 215 east of the county line at its northern junction with Redman Road. The western terminus of the route was at an intersection with NY 33A and NY 386 in the hamlet of Chili Center.
