County Road 575 (Hernando County, Florida)
State Road 575 (SR 575) is a short state road in and near Lacoochee, Florida. At both ends it continues as a county road. Major intersections County road extensions Like many county roads in the state of Florida, it was originally a state highway that was downgraded to a county road during the great renumbering of 1980. CR 575 begins at the intersection of CR 41 (formerly SR 41) and CR 41 Alt. near Blanton, as Trilby Road and winds through rural northeastern Pasco County, first in a north–south direction, then in a more east–west direction. Entering Trilby itself, it crosses the Withlacoochee State Trail, then intersects with US 98 at a blinker-light intersection. At the intersection of US 301 at Trilacoochee it regains the state highway status it held long ago. County Road 41 Alternate (Pasco County, Florida)
State Road 41 (SR 41) is the secret designation for U.S. Route 301 between Temple Terrace and Zephyrhills, Florida. It is known as Fort King Highway in Hillsborough County, and Fort King Road in Pasco County. Route description State Road 41 begins at Harney Road (County Road 580/ 43) at the embankment of a former railroad overpass, and curves underneath Interstate 75 with no access. It serves as the eastern terminus for State Road 582, as well as the unmarked County Road 582 in Thonotosassa. The road continues northeastward rejoining the aforementioned abandoned railroad line as both run through Hillsborough River State Park. Like much of US 301 between Bushnell and Bradenton, State Road 41 also runs parallel to the DeSoto Trail. Entering Pasco County, the road changes its name from Fort King Highway to Fort King Road. Withlacoochee State Trail
Withlacoochee State Trail is a long paved, multi-use, non-motorized rail trail in Florida located in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties. It follows along the Withlacoochee River and passes through the Withlacoochee State Forest. It is the longest paved rail trail in Florida. History The original railroad line was formed sometime in the 1880s. It connected with what is now the Florida Northern Railroad in Citrus Springs with what is now CSX's Wildwood Subdivision (S Line) in Owensboro (a train junction, south of Trilby). In 1892, the Silver Springs, Ocala and Gulf Railroad (SSO&G) built the original railroad line through Inverness and Hernando and the South Florida Railroad built from Inverness south. In 1902, the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL) acquired both the SFR and the SSO&G. Trilby, FL
Trilby is a census-designated place (CDP) in the northeast corner of Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 419 at the 2010 census. Trilby has a non-profit "Greater Trilby Community Association" which exists to improve the life and quality of residents of the Trilby, Trilacoochee and Lacoochee area. Trilby is the southernmost community along the Withlacoochee State Trail. History An earlier name for the town was Macon. The newer name Trilby was in use by 1895, although the Macon post office was not renamed Trilby until 1901. Railroad magnate Henry Plant changed the name of the town because it duplicated the name of Macon, Georgia. He has been quoted as saying he wished to name it "after the heroine of a story which has lately deeply moved me", referring to George du Maurier's novel of the same name. Pasco County is located on the west central coast of the U.S. state of Florida. According to the 2020 census, the population was 561,691. Its county seat is Dade City, and its largest city is Zephyrhills. The county is named after Samuel Pasco.
