Coronado High School (California)
Coronado High School (CHS) is a public high school in Coronado, California. It is the only high school in the Coronado Unified School District. The California Department of Education gave it a California Distinguished School award in 2011 and two Model Continuation High School awards in 2014 and 2018. The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is located on the campus of CHS. History Coronado High School was established in 1913. In 1939, the original building was knocked down and rebuilt as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. It was renovated again in 1961 and 2006. In the 1970's, a group of students led by former Spanish teacher Lou Villar developed what became a $100-million dollar worldwide drug smuggling operation. In 2008, the school was named a National Blue Ribbon School. CHS was the only school in San Diego County to win the award. Coronado Unified School District
Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) is the public school district for the city of Coronado in San Diego County, California. It includes two high schools, one middle school, and two elementary schools as well as several specialized and unconventional schools. It is governed by a five-member elected board. CUSD includes Coronado High School, Coronado Middle School, Silver Strand Elementary, and Village Elementary. Coronado School of the Arts, a nationally recognized public school-within-a-school (conservatory) resides on the high school campus. Crown Preschool, a fee-based school, operates as an inclusion model for some of our special needs children. The CUSD boundaries are coterminous with the City of Coronado. Genai Kerr is an American water polo player. He is a member of the United States men's national water polo team and played in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Genai was a member of the United States Men's National Water Polo Team for 12 years and played in the 2004 Athens Olympics, 2003 & 2007 Pan American Gold medal games, and multiple World Championships. He is one of the only athletes in history to compete internationally as a goalie and as a field player. Most recently he was named MVP of the 2012 US Open after he helped Newport Water Polo Foundation win the national championship. Kenneth Wayne Huff (born February 21, 1953) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League. Don Davis (Florida Politician)
Donald Robert Davis (June 23, 1931 – April 10, 2008) was an American politician. He served in many roles, from decorated war veteran to petroleum executive, board chairman, association president, Jacksonville City Council president and Florida state legislator. Early life and military service Don Davis was born in Okemah, Oklahoma to Lucien and Lucille Davis. He grew up in Coronado, California and graduated from Coronado High School in 1949. He attended the University of Redlands in California before serving in the United States Army for three years, leaving the service as a sergeant first class. Water polo is a competitive sport, competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the water polo ball, ball into the opposing team's goal (sport), goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one Goalkeeper (water polo), goalkeeper.
