Russell Coope
Russell Coope, also Geoffrey Russell Coope and G. Russell Coope (1930 Cheshire, UK – 2011) was a Quaternary paleoentomologist and neontologist and a paleoclimatologist specializing in the British Pleistocene. He was an expert and leader in the reconstruction of Quaternary paleoenvironmental conditions from fossil beetles. The relatively young age of his fossils allowed Coope to explore construction sites for fossils, in addition to geological field sites. Coope was an Honorary Professor of Quaternary Science and staff member at the University of Birmingham from 1955 to 1993. After retiring he continued working in his home laboratory and at Royal Holloway, University of London. Coope turned to beetles as a researcher subject while searching for fossil corals in Pleistocene sediments revealed in a sand quarry being worked in the Chelford Sands. Many of the beetles he found were from sites around Upton Warren in Worcestershire, and he used these to show that past climate change ...

Miles Coope
Miles Coope (28 November 1916 – 5 July 1974) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for three seasons after the Second World War for Somerset. A right-handed middle-order batsman sometimes used as an opener and an occasional leg-break bowler, Coope played for Yorkshire's second eleven in Minor Counties cricket before the war. He was also prominent in Bradford League cricket, and he followed another leading Bradford League cricketer, Johnny Lawrence, to Somerset after the war, arriving for the 1947 season. Coope made 20 and 58 in his first match, the Whitsun 1947 County Championship game against Gloucestershire. Octavius Coope
Octavius Edward Coope JP DL (12 January 1814 – 27 November 1886) was an English brewing partner and Conservative Member of Parliament 1847–1848 and 1874–1886. Coope, born 12 January 1814, was the son of John Coope of Great Cumberland Place, London, and his wife Anna Maria. In 1845 Coope and his brother George joined the brewer Edward Ind to form the brewery company of Ind Coope which was based at Romford. In 1847 Coope was elected as Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth; the next seat he was unseated on the proven bribery of some of his electors. His main homes were Rochetts in South Weald, Essex, 41 Upper Brook Street, London, and Berechurch Hall. He helped to endow the church of St. Paul, Bentley Common, and Crescent Road Infants' School, South Weald. Ursula Charlotte Macgillivray Coope FBA (born 31 July 1969) is a British classical scholar, who is an expert in the study of the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle's physics, metaphysics, and ethics, as well as on Neoplatonism. She is Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Oxford. Early life and education Coope was born on 31 July 1969 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. She was educated at Harrogate Grammar School. She studied Philosophy, Politics & Economics at the University of Oxford (BA degree awarded 1992) and then did a PhD in Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley (1999).
