Conrado Yap
Conrado Dumlao Yap (January 22, 1921 April 23, 1951) was a Philippine Army officer and a recipient the Philippines' highest military award for courage, the Medal of Valor. Yap was one of the 1,367 Filipino troops (1,303 personal, 64 officers) comprising the 10th Battalion Combat Team of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK), one of the five Philippine Army Battalion Combat Team's contingent of United Nations Command forces that fought in the Korean War (1950–1953). He was killed in action in the early morning hours of 23 April 1951 in a successful counterattack against Chinese Communist Forces that overran his hilltop position in territory which currently belongs to South Korea. Find a Grave is a website that allows the public to search and add to an online database of cemetery records. It is owned by Ancestry.com. Its stated mission is "to help people from all over the world work together to find, record and present final disposition information as a virtual cemetery experience." Conrado Yap-class Patrol Craft
The ''Conrado Yap''-class was a series of ex-South Korean Haksaeng-class patrol boats sold to the Philippine Navy in 1993. 12 of these patrol boats were transferred to the Philippine Navy, and are all retired as of 2018. History The Philippine Navy received 12 fast attack craft patrol vessels (also known as Schoolboy or Seahawk class) from the Republic of Korea in 1993. The ships were sold to the Philippines for a token sum of US$100 each, part of growing relations between the two countries at the time. The initial condition of the vessels was unclear and they subsequently went through various refit programs. When the vessels were actually commissioned varies from source to source. Elpidio Rivera Quirino (born Elpidio Quirino y Rivera; ; November 16, 1890 – February 29, 1956) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the sixth president of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953.
