Connors Brothers Limited
Connors Brothers Limited was a fish packing company founded by Lewis and Patrick Connors in the 1880s and based in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick. It is known by the Brunswick brand, and is the only remaining producer of sardines in North America. Brunswick claims to be the largest sardine producer in the world. Connors Brothers was purchased by George Weston in 1967, and merged with BC Packers ( Clover Leaf Seafood brand) of Steveston, British Columbia in 1995 before selling off the Clover Leaf brand in 1999. Cloverleaf and Bumblebee brands were merged, then re-merged with the Connors Brothers to become the Connors Brothers Income Fund in 2004. This company was acquired by Centre Partners, a middle market private equity firm in 2008. Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick
Blacks Harbour (2021 population: 907) is an incorporated village in New Brunswick, Canada. It is in a harbour of the same name opening onto the Bay of Fundy. It is 15 kilometres southeast of the town of St. George, 3 kilometres west of Beaver Harbour and 56 kilometres east from the town of St. Stephen on Route 176. Blacks Harbours' exact origin is unknown, possibly an early family name. Post office dates from 1889. George Weston
George Weston (March 23, 1864 – April 6, 1924) was an American-born Canadian businessman and the founder of George Weston Limited. He became Toronto's biggest baker with Canada's largest bread factory. Weston began his career at the age of 12 as a baker's apprentice and went on to become a bread route salesman. By the turn of the century, he was known throughout the city for his "Weston’s Home-Made Bread" and years later for "Weston’s Biscuits." In addition to being a successful local businessman, he was also a prominent Methodist, as well as a municipal politician who served four years as alderman on Toronto City Council. Steveston, founded in the 1880s, is a neighbourhood of Richmond in Metro Vancouver. On the southwest tip of Lulu Island, the village is a historic port and salmon canning centre at the mouth of the South Arm of the Fraser River.
