Conference National Playoff Final 2006
The 2005–06 Conference National Playoff Final took place on 20 May 2006 and was contested between Halifax Town and Hereford United. It was held at the Walkers Stadium Leicester for the first time, the previous Playoff Finals having been held at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke. The result promoted Hereford to League Two while Halifax had to remain in the Conference. 2005–06 Football Conference
The 2005–06 season was the 27th season of the Football Conference. Overview This season saw the return of Accrington Stanley (albeit as a reformed club) and Hereford United to the Football League. Accrington replaced Oxford United, who had replaced them when they resigned from the League in 1962. Northwich Victoria, Stafford Rangers and Weymouth returned to the Conference National, the latter for the first time since 1989, whilst St Albans City won promotion to the fifth tier for the first time. As with the previous season, Grays Athletic were the winners of the FA Trophy. Lewis Killeen
Lewis Keith Killeen (born 23 September 1982 in Peterborough) is a retired ex English professional footballer who has over 400 career appearances to his name at clubs including Sheffield United, Halifax Town and Crawley Town. Career Killeen signed for Sheffield United as a trainee on 1 August 1999. He made his debut against Walsall in front of a crowd of 20,000 in April 2002. In November 2002 he was loaned out to Halifax Town for three months where he scored 6 goals in 14 appearances. After a successful loan period he was granted a release from Bramall Lane and signed for Halifax Town in June 2003 where he remained for five years amounting over 200 appearances and scoring 44 times. He will be remembered for scoring a 25-yard screamer in the 3-2 extra time play off final loss to Hereford in 2006. Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+01:00) is a summer daylight saving time scheme, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and Coordinated Universal Time. Wayne Larry Brown (born 14 January 1977) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is the current goalkeeping coach at Oxford United. Career Born in Southampton, former bricklayer Brown made a switch from Bashley to Bristol City for £40,000 in December 1992. Between 1993 and 1996 he made only 24 appearances for the Robins due to a number of injuries. Although only one of these was for the first team, a 4–1 win over Peterborough on 8 May 1994, he was awarded Man of the Match. After a brief spell with Weston-super-Mare he joined Chester City in September 1996, initially as cover for Ronnie Sinclair (who had an elbow injury and needed surgery) and then in direct competition with Neil Cutler. Ryan Green (born 20 October 1980) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a Defender. He earned two international caps for Wales in 1998, breaking Ryan Giggs's record as their youngest player, a record which has since been surpassed. Graham Turner
Graham John Turner (born 5 October 1947) is an English former footballer who became a manager. His son Mark was also a professional footballer. He is third behind only Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger in terms of most games managed. After a 19-year career as a central defender in the lower divisions, he became manager of Shrewsbury Town. After winning the Third Division, he oversaw five seasons in the Second Division before being appointed manager of Aston Villa. With little success in two years, he was sacked and went to Wolves whom he took from the Fourth Division to the Second Division, winning the Football League Trophy along the way. Christopher John Wilder (born 23 September 1967) is an English professional football manager and former player who played as a right-back. He was most recently the manager of club Middlesbrough. Simon Travis (born 22 March 1977) is an English former professional footballer. He played on both the right and left sides in a full-back or midfield role, and was capped by the England C national football team under Paul Fairclough. Andy Ferrell
Andrew Eric Ferrell (born 9 January 1984) is an English footballer. He played in League Two for Hereford United during the 2006–07 season. Career Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, Ferrell began his career as a trainee in the youth system at hometown club Newcastle United, before signing a professional contract on 5 December 2002. He was released at the end of the 2003–04 season without making an appearance for the first team although he had impressed for the reserve team, scoring 11 goals in 21 starts. Guy Ipoua
Guy Ipoua (born 14 January 1976) is a former Cameroonian footballer who played as a striker. He previously played for a string of British and Continental clubs. His elder brother, Samuel, represented Cameroon at the 1998 World Cup. Career Born in Douala, Cameroon, Ipoua moved to Strasbourg, France, at the age of four. His early football career is unclear but he joined AS Nancy in 1992, and had a spell at Torino where his brother was also on loan from Inter Milan, for six months.
