Columbia Basin College
Columbia Basin College (CBC) is a public community college in Pasco, Washington. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The college offers English as a second language and General Educational Development (GED) prep classes, the Running Start program, and many associate degrees (transfer, associate of applied science, associate of arts) and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees. History Columbia Basin College has served Benton and Franklin counties for nearly 60 years. The first classes at CBC were authorized by the State Board of Education in May 1955. Classes began in September, 1955 in temporary quarters at the former Pasco Naval Airbase. The Pasco School District received title to more than of land for the present campus site in Pasco. CBC's first permanent building was completed in 1957 and was the V building which was replaced in 2011 by the Center for Career and Technical Education (CTE). Leon Rice (basketball)
Leon Paul Rice (born November 25, 1963) is an American college basketball coach, and the head men's basketball coach at Boise State University of the Mountain West Conference. He replaced Greg Graham as head coach of the Broncos on March 26, 2010. In his first season, Rice led Boise State to the finals of the WAC tournament and to the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational. He is the first Boise State head coach to win twenty games in two of his first three seasons and has twenty or more wins in nine of his twelve years. In 2013, he guided the Broncos to their first ever at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Chad Orvella
Chad Robert Orvella (born October 1, 1980) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) relief pitcher who played for the Tampa Bay Rays from 2005 to 2007. He played collegiate baseball for Columbia Basin College and North Carolina State University as a shortstop. Early life Chad Orvella grew up in Renton, Washington. Dave McKay (baseball)
David Lawrence McKay (born March 14, 1950) is a Canadian former Major League Baseball player and a longtime coach at the MLB level, currently the first base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). As an active player, he was an infielder for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays and the Oakland Athletics. He is the father of former catcher Cody McKay. Mark Kevin Kafentzis (born June 30, 1958) is a former American football defensive back who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. He was drafted by the Browns in the eighth round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He first enrolled at Columbia Basin College before transferring to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Richard Norman Hastings (born February 7, 1941) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party who served as the U.S. representative for from 1995 until his retirement in 2015. The district includes much of central Washington including the Tri-Cities, Yakima, and Moses Lake. Ronald Allan East (born August 26, 1943) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at Oregon State University and Montana State University, following his completion of service to the United States Marine Corps. Clinton Bradley Didier (born April 4, 1959) is a professional American football player and politician. He played for the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers, and later sought elected office on four occasions. Darrell Albert Ceciliani, Jr. (born June 22, 1990) is an American former professional baseball left fielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays. Steve Buratto (born c. 1943) is a Canadian football coach and former offensive lineman. He is the offensive coordinator for the UBC Thunderbirds football team. He is also a former head coach in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions, the latter of which he won the 88th Grey Cup with.
