Colt (horse)
A colt is a male horse, usually below the age of four years. Description The term "colt" only describes young male horses and is not to be confused with foal, which is a horse of either sex less than one year of age. Similarly, a yearling is a horse of either sex between the ages of one and two. A young female horse is called a filly, and a mare once she is an adult animal. In horse racing, particularly for Thoroughbreds in the United Kingdom, a colt is defined as an uncastrated male from the age of two up to and including the age of four. The term is derived from Proto-Germanic *''kultaz'' ("lump, bundle, offspring") and is etymologically related to "child." Barrie Colts
The Barrie Colts are a junior ice hockey team in Ontario Hockey League, based in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Pre-OHL history There were two previous Barrie Colts teams which played Junior A & B hockey in the Ontario Hockey Association, one from 1907 until 1910 and another from the 1920s to 1940s. The first Barrie Colts played in the senior division of the OHA from 1907 until 1910, prior to the creation of junior A and B levels. One notable alumnus is Gordon Meeking, who played for the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey Association (NHA), and later in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA). The Barrie Colts were revived in 1921 and played in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1921 to 1944. Baltimore Colts (1947–1950)
The Baltimore Colts were a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The first team to bear the name Baltimore Colts, it was a member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1947 to 1949 and then joined the National Football League (NFL) for one season before folding. The Colts were one of the least successful teams in the AAFC and NFL both on and off the field, winning only 11 of their 54 games in their history. In 1953, Baltimore was granted an expansion team that revived the Colts name. Since , this team is now the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts' origin is with the Miami Seahawks, one of the charter franchises of the AAFC. Augusta Colts
The Augusta Colts were a professional indoor football team based in Augusta, Georgia. The team played their home games at the James Brown Arena. History The Colts originally began in 2006 as the Augusta Spartans of the American Indoor Football League. After a mediocre season, they played in the World Indoor Football League in 2007. During the year, the Spartans went 8–6, defeated the Osceola Ghostriders in the opening round of the playoffs, and won the World Indoor Bowl over the Columbus Lions. Wide receiver Marvin Stone was named the 2007 league MVP and received the Javan Camon Award. Parkway Central High School is a public high school in Chesterfield, Missouri that is part of the Parkway School District. History Five elementary school districts merged to form the Parkway Consolidated School District. The name for the district was proposed by a fourth grader from Barretts Elementary School. The name "Parkway" was in honor of the Daniel Boone Parkway, which is also known as Highway 40 (now I-64). The road passes through the center of the district.
