Cobar Shire Council
Cobar Shire is a local government area in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located in an outback area that is centred around the mining town of Cobar. The Shire is traversed by the Barrier Highway and the Kidman Way. With a total area of , about two-thirds the size of Tasmania, Cobar Shire is larger than Denmark and 99 other countries and self-governing territories, but its population is under 5000. Lilliane Brady was the Mayor of Cobar Shire for more than 20 years, before her death in 2021. At the time of her death, she was the longest-serving female mayor in New South Wales' history. The current Mayor of Cobar Shire Council is Cr. Peter Abbott, an independent politician. Mount Hope, New South Wales
Mount Hope (elevation 223 m) is a settlement in western New South Wales, Australia. It is situated on the Kidman Way, 95 kilometres north of Hillston and 160 km south of Cobar. A government township called 'Nombinnie' was surveyed in the mid-1880s but that name was rarely used. At the 2016 census, Mount Hope and surrounding area had a population of 19 people living in 9 private dwellings, with a median age of 31 years. Euabalong West, New South Wales
Euabalong West is a small town on the Broken Hill Railway Line that was founded to serve the residents of nearby Euabalong, which was a crossing point for the Lachlan River founded in the 1870s. The town has approximately 70 people, and its main industries are cropping, grazing, and railway-related employment. Euabalong West railway station opened in 1919 and is served by the weekly ''Indian Pacific'' train between Sydney and Perth. NSW TrainLink's weekly ''Outback Xplorer'' also serves the town. Euabalong is a town in western New South Wales, Australia. The town is in the Cobar Shire local government area and on the Lachlan River, west of the state capital, Sydney, and 27 kilometres from Lake Cargelligo. At the 2016 census, Euabalong had a population of 188. The town is served by a railway station on the Broken Hill railway line at nearby Euabalong West.
