''Cloud, Encore'' () is a 2018 South Korean documentary film directed by Jung Sung-il. Shot in 2012 while Korean filmmaker Im Kwon-taek began filming his 102nd feature ''Revivre'' (2014), it reveals the secrets of the movie master from beginning to end. It will made its world premiere at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival in 2018. Jung Sung-il (director)
Jung Sung-il (born July 4, 1959) is a South Korean film critic, director and screenwriter. A well regarded film critic-turned-director, Jung debuted with the romance melodrama film ''Cafe Noir'' (2009). His next two works document two well-known directors: ''Night and Fog in Zona'' (2015) on Chinese documentary filmmaker Wang Bing, and '' Cloud, Encore'' (2018) on Korean filmmaker Im Kwon-taek. Career One of the most well-known film critics in Korea, Jung has worked as the chief editor for film magazines Road Show and Kino, a programmer and jury in many festivals, a former adjunct professor of Korea National University of Arts' School of Film, TV and Multimedia, and a guest professor at Korean Academy of Film Arts. Im Kwon-taek (born December 8, 1934) is one of South Korea's most renowned film directors. In an active and prolific career, his films have won many domestic and international film festival awards as well as considerable box-office success, and helped bring international attention to the Korean film industry. As of spring 2015, he has directed 102 films. Early life Im Kwon-taek was born in Jangseong, Jeollanam-do and grew up in Gwangju. After the Korean War, he moved to Busan in search of work. He then moved to Seoul in 1956, where Jeong Chang-hwa, director of '' Five Fingers of Death'' (1972), offered him room and board for work as a production assistant. The 23rd Busan International Film Festival was held from 3 October to 13 October 2018 at the Busan Cinema Center. A documentary film or documentary is a non-fictional motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a historical record". ''Revivre'' (; lit. "Cremation" or “Cosmetics”) is a 2014 South Korean drama film directed by Im Kwon-taek and starring Ahn Sung-ki. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Wang Bing (; born 1967) is a Chinese director, often referred to as one of the foremost figures in documentary film-making. Wang is the founder of his own production company, Wang Bing Studios, which produces most of his films. His movie on Chinese labour camps, ''The Ditch'', was included in the 2010 Venice Film Festival as the ''film sorpresa''.
