''Clerk'' is a 2021 documentary film about the life and career of filmmaker Kevin Smith. It was directed by Smith's protégé and collaborator Malcolm Ingram. Release The documentary premiered in March 2021 at South by Southwest. 1091 Pictures acquired the rights to the film in August. It was screened at the Count Basie Center for the Arts on November 4. It had a digital release on November 23, 2021. Synopsis The film documents the life and career of Kevin Smith, a filmmaker who broke into the industry with the low-budget comedy ''Clerks''. Malcolm Ingram
Malcolm "Mo" Ingram (born 1968) is a Canadian independent film director and podcaster. Directing Ingram wrote and directed '' Drawing Flies'', which was produced by Scott Mosier and Kevin Smith of View Askew Productions. He also made '' Tail Lights Fade'' and ''Small Town Gay Bar'', a documentary which received acclaim at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. In 2007, Ingram appeared on the cover of ''A Bear's Life'', a gay magazine, with friend Kevin Smith. Smith unveiled the magazine during an appearance on ''Late Show with David Letterman''. Jason Mewes
Jason Edward Mewes (born June 12, 1974) is an American actor, comedian, film producer, and podcaster. He is best known for playing Jay, the vocal half of the duo Jay and Silent Bob, in longtime friend Kevin Smith, Kevin Smith's films. Early life Mewes was born on June 12, 1974 in Highlands, New Jersey, and grew up in a working-class neighborhood. He never knew his father, and his mother was an ex-con and a drug addict. Relates Mewes: "She used to check into hotels and take TVs and sell them...I guess it really ain't funny, but it's weird because it was so fucked up...She used to steal mail.
