Clara GAA
Clara GAA ( ga, CLG Chláraigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Clara in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Focused mainly on hurling and camogie, the dominant sports in the county, Clara's greatest achievements to date are victories in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1986 2013, and in 2015 they secured their third title. Despite limited success at county level, Clara has produced several hurlers who have gone on play at inter-county level for Kilkenny. Jim Langton was born in the area, a winner of All-Ireland medals in 1939 and 1947, and a place on the GAA Hurling Team of the Century chosen in 1984. Paddy Prendergast was also a fixture in Kilkenny's defence in the 1970s and 1980s, winning three All-Ireland medals and three National Hurling League Medals. Harry Ryan (hurler)
Harry Ryan (7 April 1957 – 24 November 2020) was an Irish hurler who played for the Kilkenny Senior Hurling team in the All Ireland Hurling Championship and his parish club Clara and at inter-county level. Ryan also played with Mount Leinster Rangers and was involved in coaching after his retirement from the game. He usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Ryan also achieved winning all Irelands at minor, U21 and Senior completing the holy grail of an intercounty hurlers career . Shane Prendergast
Shane Prendergast (born 1986) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Clara, County Kilkenny, Prendergast was introduced to hurling by his father, Paddy Prendergast, a three-time All-Ireland medal winner. He enjoyed All-Ireland success at colleges level with St. Kieran's College while simultaneously joining the Clara senior club team. An All-Ireland medal winner in the intermediate grade with Clara, Prendergast has also won two championship medals at senior level. Prendergast made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team. An All-Ireland runner-up in this grade, he later won an All-Ireland medal with the intermediate team. Prendergast made his senior debut during the 2014 league. Kilkenny Junior Hurling Championship
The J. J. Kavanagh & Sons Premier Junior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1905 for the third-tier hurling teams in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Nowlan Park in October. The prize for the winning team is the Bob Aylward Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series. Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Kilkenny IHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by intermediate clubs in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. It is the second tier overall in the entire Kilkenny hurling championship system. The Kilkenny Intermediate Championship was introduced in 1929 as a competition that would bridge the gap between the senior grade and the junior grade. The championship was suspended for over 30 years until the 1970s when it was reinstated. The All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship is a competition for inter-county teams in the women's field sport of game of camogie played in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Camogie Association and are played during the summer months with the All-Ireland Camogie Final being played on the second Sunday in September in Croke Park, Dublin. The prize for the winning team is the O'Duffy Cup. The men's equivalent tournament is the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Liz Neary
Liz Neary (born 1951 in Kilkenny, Ireland) is a retired Irish sportsperson. She played camogie at various times with her local clubs St. Paul's and Austin Stacks and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1970 until 1987. Neary is regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. In a senior inter-county career that lasted for nineteen years she won seven All-Ireland medals, five National League medals and five Gael Linn Interprovincial medals. With her two clubs St. Paul's and Austin Stack's she collected a huge haul of twenty-one county titles and six All-Ireland club medals. Neary was also presented with a number of personal awards during her career. In 1981 and 1986 she was awarded the B&I Player of the Year Award. Lester Ryan
Lester Ryan (18 April 1959 – 6 June 2020) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder at club level with Clara and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. His brother, Harry Ryan, and his nephew, Lester Ryan, were All-Ireland Championship-winners with Kilkenny. Playing career St. Kieran's College As a student at St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny, Ryan played hurling at all levels before being added to the college's senior team. He was just 15-years-old when he claimed a Leinster Colleges Championship title as a non-playing substitute in 1975, after a 6–12 to 4–03 victory over Birr's Presentation College. Ryna later claimed an All-Ireland Colleges Championship medal after coming on as a substitute in the 6–09 to 2–03 defeat of Coláiste Iognáid Rís in the All-Ireland final.
